I wasn't being entirely serious but Celtic are probably better than a lot of people down south give them credit for. I don't think he is good enough for them.

Adam Idah looked good for Celtic on loan last season and he is a pretty limited player.
I agree that Celtic are probably better than most people give them credit for, but the level of their opposition is not. I think Mara would do well up there.

Would probably be good for Saints too. He could bang in a few goals up there and we might actually be able to sell him for a few £m.

It's not that important how good Celtic are. The league they are in is poor.

It will be important to Celtic though. They have been dominant in their domestic league and will want to maintain that. You are obviously aware of how fierce their rivalry with Rangers is and how it permeates through life in the whole of Glasgow. It's essential to both sets of fans to finish above their rivals, anything less is unacceptable. I have personal experience of this now but before I was unaware of the depth of feeling away from the grounds.
But also they play in Europe every season and as far as I know haven't done particularly well. They will want to improve on that and I can't see Mara helping much in that department either.

I don’t know, he did very little even against poor championship sides.

Presumably Celtic have no reason to reduce their asking price? I'm not aware that they need the money, or that the player has thrown his toys out the pram, or that his contract is ending? (I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.)

So in that case, either pay the asking price or move on. I really don't care which, because I've never seen him play and hence have no opinion on him (ignorance on my part, I accept). Only three weeks left now.

Scottish paper's possibly the Daily Record saying Celtic would probably would accept 25M if that was the final highest bid.

Why is he gone. Overreaction.
Because we are no longer even mentioned in any of the rumours. Would suggest the fee has got too high. And even if it hasn’t he isn’t picking us over Brighton or Atalanta. Even if he didn’t fancy moving overseas Brighton are a significantly better option
