Actions speak louder than words. Time for some serious changes to be made in how we're dealing with this imo.

Whether that's curfews, tear gas, military support, I don't know. But this isn't letting up until people start dying as it stands as far as I can see.

It’ll let up when it rains mate, always does. See Northern Ireland for details

Haha I made this point a few times this week. Us Brits aren't ones for rioting in **** weather are we?

I'm not so sure this time though. Things are getting seriously bad out there with groups of Muslims now responding with violence of their own which could lead to direct clashes

Can only hope I'm wrong but I still feel there's lots of scope for this to get a lot worse before getting better.

Problem is the prison system is clogged up so there is no room to adequately punish this lot.

I can’t think what the alternative is, electric tagging and notifying their employers? (assuming these ****ing moronic troglodytes have any).

Yep. Lack of prison space, court backlogs, and the sheer number of charges which will arise from this presents a real problem.

State of this ****. Imagine having to tell your kids you're going to prison because you decided to loot a Greggs and Lush <laugh>

I’ve seen it mentioned that this lot are not going to be subject to the court backlogs and space will be made in the prisons for them

Space can't be pulled out of thin air though. It'll means releasing people from prison early or granting bail to those who would otherwise be remanded.

Fast tracking these cases presumably also puts others on hold? It's a huge issue imo.

Non violent offenders were already on the slate for being released early before this happened. The right wing press want people to believe a bunch of rapists are being released early. That isn’t happening

Compromises need to be made here. And if that involves stamping down on this hard then it might be for the best

Yes I'm aware of that and that it's focused on non violent offenders. What happens when we run out of non-violent offenders to release though?

Lots of offences which are non violent deserve prison time too and if they're let out early will likely reoffend knowing that there isn't the will to recall them.

Compromises need to be made for sure but that doesn't mean it's not a real issue we're facing. We had a big issue with prison space anyway so the fact we'll be charging hundreds of people more unexpectedly is going to undoubtedly cause problems.

Probation officers are being fast tracked for a pay rise, I believe, to get them on board with dealing with the early release of prisoners, to create space in the prison system.
I am sure that a law could be brought in similar to the one that made “flying pickets, who were shipped in to picket places where they didn’t work, illegal.
Something along the lines of anyone participating in a non peaceful protest (riot) who isn’t from the area in which it is happening, would be guilty of an additional criminal offence and subject to whatever punishment is appropriate.
In effect if they want to **** on anyone’s doorstep it has to be in their own locality, which will hopefully make them more recognisable to the police.
