    Yeah, He is.
    I wonder if we are after both Carvalho and O'Riley.

    They seem to play in different positions. Both are excellent with the ball at their feet too.

    I imagine a front 4 of;

    Arma, O'Riley, Carvalho;
    Striker.

    That's what it would like if we acquired those 2.

    Would offer alot more potency to score goals too. Both are a big yes from me.

    Juve having a big squad clear out. Wouldn’t mind seeing us go for Weston McKennie as a DM option or Szczesny as a keeper. Doesn’t fit the UK theme we have mostly gone with in the transfer window so far though

    Chiesa been told to leave aswell which is a surprise to me

    Ok… may edit that…. Sully couldn’t slap a cows ass with a banjo…. Summerville could…. Didn’t watch them a lot so no idea how many of the goals were “useful” as in it wasn’t the 4th goal in a 4-0 win…. But he certainly did go missing….

    Yeah Summerville was crap against us, that's true. But in the Prem during Leeds' relegation season he scored against Spurs and Liverpool among others, so he can do it against top teams.

    Wingers almost always blow hot and cold. It's very rare to find ones that play consistently well every game.

    I doubt he would say it openly, but I get the impression Russ wants to remove the foreign language clicks that naturally occur, so English speaking is probably important to him, but that of course wouldn’t be an issue for McKennie & Szczesny

    True…. Wasn’t lucky enough to go to the final but remember lots of clips of him looking a bit lost against us and not knowing what to do…. Reminds me that Russ really did out tactic them three times last season…. Very satisfying….!

    Not to mention he was up against KWP, I’d suggest he had a pretty big part to play in Summerville doing nothing against us in any of the 3 times we faced them last season.

    Carvalho would be a great option and I see his record at Hull, in 20 games, was 9 goals and 2 assists, which is pretty impressive, but hasn’t he rejected our approaches twice already? Weren’t we in for him when he was at Fulham (I can understand him choosing Liverpool over us) and again last season on loan, but he chose Hull?

    Just a suggestion but would Josh Sargent be an option to go after, to lead the line?
    Mobile, strong and caused us problems when he played us.

    This would be an excellent signing.

    I think largely due to his Football Manager exploits rather than any indication of how he plays in real life

    Isn’t he primarily a number 10? So same position as Alcaraz? I know he can also play as a winger

    Liverpool are something aren’t they? Sign a player for 7m. Never play him. Command (presumably) 3 times that for a sale based on what exactly?

    I expect Chiesa is on an enormous contract. How well do Italians tend to settle outside Italy? Over the years they have been like England where almost all of the very top players in the national side don’t leave

    The Italians that wowed the premier league over the years have generally not been wanted by the top clubs there

    Something very Gareth Southgate / England national team about this:

    - players out of their best positions to fit them in
    - a formation we don’t actually play to fit players in (we play 4-3-3 or 5-3-2 not 4-2-3-1 unless a change is planned)
    - leaving out the striker / attacker we have just got

    I am not convinced we are in for both players. Maybe if Alcaraz is going but even then I’m not sure

    Although that said - I’ve just looked and Hull played Carvalho as CF. Presumably as kind of a false 9

    Which would perhaps mean a front 3 of Diaz, Carvalho and Armstrong where all three can play wide of central and so move around. With a midfield three of Downes, O’Riley and likely Smallbone

    I don’t think Diaz and Carvalho are the “striker” signings we have been clamouring for though

    RM didn’t play with a central striker at Swansea from memory.
    It’s a bit of worry if he is going down that road, because for all the criticism that Adams receives, we looked a hell of lot better with a player of his physicality up top.

    I like Carvalho, and I'd be very happy if we sign him. However, I like Clarke more. I appreciate that they are slightly different players, but if we were to only sign one, I'd prefer it to be Clarke.
