Does anyone local have any experience or recommendations for an estate agent to sell a house in the Cottingham area? Tempted by Beercocks because of the name, but feel I should take a more scientific approach than that.

I’ve sold a fair few houses and Symonds & Greenham are by far the best I’ve used. Literally streets ahead of anyone else in the area.

Sold with Whitakers but they are more West Hull Villages than Cott, Mathew Limb have a strong reputation, another new name for me are Wigwam, building a good reputation and lower prices.

Whitakers just sold ours, really good, kept well informed, wouldn’t touch Beercocks with a wet fish, not a good service…

Despite being quite prominent locally I found the experience of dealing with Quick and Clarke one of the most frustrating of my life. I couldn’t recommend them less if I tried. Absolutely useless

I used to deal with a lot of them via the software they used. My experience is you pay your money and makes a choice. In terms of likability as human beings Stanifords were pretty decent people. Quick and Clarke I wouldn’t go near, a proper bunch of clever bastards if ever there was. Matthew Limb were ok as well.

We've used Whittakers for a sale in Anlaby and they were good. Family run firm so usually speaking to a Whittaker.

Also, we have used Oscars (one in Anlaby, not sure anout elsewhere). They are really on the ball in chasing up both parties and liaising with solicitors to get the sale done as quick as possible. Realistic with their advice and feedback as they want a sale.

    Why?

I have used them twice and excellent service. Albeit that was a while back now.

Guess it depends on OP plans and the cost of the house.

I find estate agent charges ridiculously outdated. Depending on the cost of the house and percentage of sales, you can't go wrong with purple bricks one off charge you get exactly the same service.

FYI - I Don't work for them, nor on commission!

I've just bought a house and Urban on Holderness Road were fantastic throughout selling to me.

Beercocks are a load of old sweaty arse, as has been said already.

This reminds me of the bloke who once told me not to buy an Astra cos he had had one and they are ****. When I pointed out the sales in a year and that his view wasn’t defining he told me to **** off as he was only trying to help me…

The house we're currently in was on the market with Bruce Ryan. Never met a set of cowboys like it in my life. No idea why the vendor went with them.
