Having elected to bat WI go from 75/0 to 115/5. Hope nobody’s got Monday/Tuesday tickets…

woah, nice collapse! let's hope their 10th wicket does less well than the last few innings.

Poor from the openers. So much for the slightly more reserved "Bazball 2.0", playing a more reserved style when the situation requires etc

Wow, 336/7, didn't see that coming, Jamie Smith on 90-odd, Woakes 45.

that's a busy over to wrap an innings with. two bows and a cherry.

just a few dots and crosses to sort.

so, first test v sri lanka and the visitors were all out for 236. perhaps a little disappointing that they got that many given that they were 6/3 at one stage.

and, as i type, harry brook loses his wicket. to make it 187/5. parity isn't far away, and we might still have a first-innings lead.

the main reason for reviving this post, apart from the fact it needed doing, was that if smith had added another 3 runs before the smith-brook partnership ended, we'd have two batsmen batting together with career test averages of 60+ (even if one of them has a test career only a handful of games old). my apologies for jinxing it! perhaps later in the series.
