So is Bob a genuine contender this week? He did well at the Scottish, but I think Aberg and Morikawa will have learned some lessons for Troon. Adam Scott played well too, fair play. Might exorcise his disaster at Lytham. Probably not though.
I would say Bob could be a genuine contender this week. Out of interest, why would you think he wouldn't be?
Was it twice he got hit right enough? It was obviously before my time, but I remember hearing that he did say something about not even God being able to hit a 1 iron! To be fair, Sandy Lyle was great at hitting one.
Yeah, I remember that quote from Lee, classic If I remember rightly when Sandy won The Masters in 1988 in the final round at all the par 4 and par 5 holes he used a 1 iron off the tee. Or possibly that was when he won The Open at Sandwich in 1985. And no, I didn't ****ing google that before you ask My long term memory is excellent but if you asked me what I had for lunch 2 days ago I wouldn't have a ****ing scoobies, happens to us all with age
I only remember Sandy used a 7 iron out of the bunker for the Masters on the 18th. Generally, he was known for being able to hit a 1 iron though
Big step up from Scottish Open to The Open, all new ball game. No reason why he can't, I didn't really say I didn't think he would. He's been at the top end of the game for a few years now.
My money is also on this blossoming talent................ please log in to view this image She has it all in front of her
True! But pressure and environment, it kind of will be. Very little pressure in winning the Scottish Open, it's historically a practice tournament ahead of the main event.
Certainly easier to win it these days than it was say 20 years ago. 20 years ago, all of the big names would be playing in the Scottish Open the week before The Open. He has had a good last 6 weeks or whatever with winning the Canadian Open too. If he gets off to a decent start then he will hopefully be in the mix come Sunday.
