Me being me, I'd love to give the England job to Weigman, I really would, spiked with my typical sense of humour with that one, make it happen, please make it happen, just so I can read the rage on here.
Fosse wanted to leave Saka and Foden at home too Sorry Flos but I don't think we'll be advancing your CV and application to the shortlist stage.
You just know the FA will appoint another boring middle of the road yes man. Would be funny af if they appointed Weigman, but I'd honestly fear for her because the abuse she would get from knuckle dragging Eng-er-land fans if she didn't win anything. It would bring out the worst misogyny, and comments like, she should be in the ****ing kitchen doing the washing up, not managing the England team etc etc.
Genuinely would love her to get the job. I always assumed the Americans owned women's soccer, the dominant power, and I felt Weigman came along and changed all that, so why not do that for the men. Sadly humans have not advanced enough yet to allow that to happen.
There's no reason a woman couldn't manage the men's team and be successful. But I think you're right that the culture of football would bring out the worst in people if she didn't win anything.
Your impression was wrong - I was merely being realistic - and not subscring to the usual England over-hype that always seems to prevail at the outset of any tournament... ... and, with the benefit of hindsight, my comments on Harry were pretty much on the money ... and based on his performances in previous tournaments, particularly at the business end ... one touch in the opposition penalty area in the 180 minutes of the last two European Championship finals - that's not down to me and my 'supposed' wishful thinking in order to justify my views ... I've supported England in every tournament since 1970 and will always do so ... but I'm also a critic - particularly when I feel something is both obvious and incredibly frustrating ... we had players in the squad that, given the draw, potentially gave us a proper shot at winning it ... in the end we made the final with arguably only one performance on the way reflecting the quality and ability within the squad... against the Dutch ...
Weigman has never worked in the men’s game though has she? Women's football is completely different to men’s football. It’s basically not even the same sport.
To be fair, klopp is feeling burnt out and needs a break. What better way to get it than to just chill on the national job. You only need to work once a month every 2 years
They’ve worked on the men’s game and at a good level though. Admittedly they’ve not won anything but still a superior option than her
Not sure about not even taking Kane, but it was clear after the first few games that something was up. Southgate needed to make the changes, he didn't, and it cost him. You don't need to he a super expert in football to have seen this, if you've any understanding of the game whatsoever. It's not like us 'experts' turned on the telly last week and decided we liked football, it was plain as daylight someone else should be given a go, or that Southgate should change the whole approach to suit Kane. He did neither.
