I agree that the better team won but why, when we scored and had them on the back foot, did we sit back and defend?

It was like watching City!

Their winning goal had a hint of offside about it.
NOT bitter sour grapes - just wondering how our penalty vs the Dutch went to VAR when the ref hadn’t given it - yet the Spanish goal didn’t seem to get checked.
Strange - but overall the Spanish deserved the win.

Checked in the background I would guess but from what has been seen after the game, clearly onside.

Watching last night was clear the difference in both teams game plans.
Spain's was a clear approach knowing of each other's role and a clear aim going forward.
Our approach was haphazard at best, but overall cautious.......with our talent available it's almost criminal.

That is down to Southgate .
Nice decent bloke but I hope he steps down.......for sure he won't be sacked.

I agree 100%, although I’m afraid who will come in for him?
He’s obviously very good at man management and team building, but tactically lacks getting the best from players..
would love him to have some sort of role, just not manager..

I thought the ref was a bit weak on some of his decisions against Spain a couple cards for us were not reciprocated for almost identical fouls by their players!
We showed some really good moments but as said that flurry of headers off the line and the "not offside" by millimetres was decisive....

This must be a first and most probably the last time I agree with Gary Lineker.

He's urged Southgate to resign and for the FA to go all out to appoint Jurgen Klopp.
'I would love it' as Keegan once said.
However I can't see it as Klopp would rather manage Germany and anyway can anyone see the FA appointing anybody other than a 'yes man'.

Why would Klopp want the poisoned chalice that is the England Managers job ?

A German trying to make us successful doesn’t sit right with me tbh.. but I see the logic!

Funnily enough Klopp was my first knee jerk thought.
A nice thought - but unrealistic - he wouldn’t take the England job. He’d rather manage Germany - understandable.

I’m torn, Southgate has done amazingly since his appointment. He’s taken us to more semi finals and finals than any manager in our history, I worry he’s taken us as far as he can though. On the other hand I really don’t want to go back to how we were before his arrival. We’ve had really good players before, without anywhere near as much success. There doesn’t seem to be any obvious replacements either.
