Played well first half, won the midfield. Second half we were nullified but dig deep. The subs made the difference and what a pass, and shot by Watkins, get in!
When we played it wasn't a foul. Today you see that kind of foul in almost every game all over the pitch. No doubt if that incident happened outside of the box it would have been given as a foul. The decision was correct in today's game
What game? The Suburban, Somerset, AYL, JPL, Western League, Southern, Conference, EFL? Todays game does not give that decision. According to my ref Son, you cant that type of foul all over pitch because each foul should be viewed as unique, their not the same and Harry Kane and the defender will be behaving differently (obviously) in a another part of the pitch.
I understood it as well, but at the elite levels these decision are not uniform. On ITV the refereeing expert did not think the decision would be reviewed, or that this was a penalty.
Life, nor football, is never black and white, there is always grey areas. As Harry said in summarising it, some you get, some you don’t.
The you have underlined the point. That this decision would not have been given in every game all over the pitch.
Nor did Keane or Neville. Wright thought, as I do, that if that kind of challenge happened outside the box it would have been called a foul. I don't like fouls being given for this kind of 'coming together'.
The point is that no decision would be given the same in every game all over the pitch, that doesn’t mean the decision wasn’t the correct one.
No way thats a penalty at Sturminster road or Iron Mould lane. I am just getting old. My top players were usually those who got in the big tackles - fair but hard. Even a good old fashioned two footer - it could be done fairly. I am sure thats a thought that will have people clutching at their pearls. It was a physical game and occasionally people got hurt but that be sport? Most big strikers and defenders had no front teeth. Now they act like girly boy bands.
I agree, in today’s game it’s a foul imo, but like you I don’t think it should be. We have to accept the game is different now to in “our day”
Nice support from the England egg-chasing team…… Apparently Southgate visits their training ground often…. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/r.../england-rugby-stars-celebrate-euro-2024.html
Man for man I think we're better. I rate our keeper and defender's better than Cucurella and co. Rodri is a stand out for them but Rice didn't look out of place against him twice this year when Arsenal played Man City. Danny Olmo looks a fantastic player but would I swop him for Bellingham....never. Williams, Lamal and Morata aren't better than Saka, Kane and Foden. Where they've been light years ahead is they play as a team......so far. However the penny has dropped with Southgate playing Foden and Bellingham in their correct positions necessitating a completely different set up. No doubt in my mind the difference so far is the managers. Southgate has got there eventually and maybe it's my heart talking but I'm hopeful of a great win tonight.
