Every day there’s more worrying or crap news. Even the rumoured signings aren’t anything to get excited about. Squad’s been absolutely gutted. I have little faith or trust in the owner and vice-chairman to get it right.

I feel sorry for Walter and his coaching team because they’re not coming into a well-run club with a solid base to build on. They’re coming into a chaotic situation of rebuilding almost an entire squad in 5 weeks to prepare. If I was him, I wouldn’t have took the job knowing what we know now.

bit of a **** your pants post this Kalman, they did also bring in Philo etc and deserve the benefit of the doubt to at least get it right. Will judge on September 1st.

Fact is that even Rosenior said the squad was way to big and thats before however many came in in January. The trim down of the deadwood was and is necessary. Losing 3 main players is a hit, but we knew 2 were going to go no matter what. So Ozan is the loss.

I honestly expected Seri to go to Saudi, he wouldn't work in Walters team and I think his 'availability' might see some more bidding from this country, but a decent price for Seri would be a bonus.
So far 'Walters team' haven't even been recruited so I'm not sure on what basis Seri wouldn't work in it?

What I can’t understand is that people think Acun is saying these things in the HDM about not being able to spend to tell other clubs don’t take the piss basically?

Surely other clubs can just work out that we can actually spend with a quick working out of our previous spend? They will have a lot more information than we do

How?

It’s easy in hindsight and ultimately it is the reason Rosie has gone, but Acun out most of our eggs in the basket of trying to get up last season. Again hindsight would tell you it was a strong league and we should have spent differently, maybe building with some younger cheaper players to add to the mix then we’d have something to build on this season. Unfortunately we’ve not a lot to show for quite a big spend. I have no idea what the Giles, Coutinho, Ohio et al loans would have cost.

Something doesn’t quite add up with FFP, unless we are still paying for the Siniks and Tufan windows?

All in all it’s left us in as weaker position as when Acun took over. A Middlesborough mould would have been more pro active maybe and stable?

It's easy in hindsight but some of us said it at the time. It was pretty clear we weren't going up.

This bit jumped out ....

" ....I think we have a very good team..."

Eh? No we don't. We barely have a team, and if that team played we'd be nailed on for relegation.

I pulled up Rosenior on his comment about 'leaving a great foundation'. He didn't at all. And the picture has got far worse since then now that we have seen who else, in addition to all those loanees and released players, has left or are still to leave, and seen that we actually had no chance of re-signing the likes of Delap, Carvahlo, and Morton, and that there are no early signings, etc.

I'm sure they'll somehow pull it around by the end of the window, but that still doesn't mean it isn't currently a **** show.
And heading in the direction of the squad Phelan inherited when Bruce walked out just before pre season. The current situation stinks of rank bad planning by the owners. But I'm sure everyone will have a broad grin on their faces when they board the sponsored flight to another freebie and photo opportunity in turkey.

I think that's a fair point. Still think that if we recruit almost exclusively from outside the UK, it's a big gamble. Would really like to see some experienced championship players want to join the project.

Genuinely think we will see a mix. Time will tell

For those believing Seri won’t be able to play Walterball, or fit in his system, he recovered 5.9 balls a game. Morton was next best at 4.8 and Slater at 3.9. Most of his interception and ball winnings stats are miles infront, he also has the highest passing accuracy from any of the central midfielders.

You can make stats fit your own narrative, but there’s no doubt he will be a huge loss. And no doubt he will be massively missed.

Yep, having a starting X1 would be nice!! Fingers crossed! :emoticon-0105-wink:

-> Im hopeful as well somebody steps up out of nowhere like Simons or Callum Jones. My bet would be Andy Smith but depends what we do with LCB.
Me too.
I really doubt it will be Andy Smith though. I don't think he's anywhere near good enough. Happy for him to prove me wrong of course.
Simons might though.

I liked Smith in preseason and I don’t think he did anything bad during the brief spells he got. He was unfortunate that Jones never really took time off. By all accounts he did ok at Cheltenham but they struggled generally but any experience is good for the guy.

I love Seri. He hasn’t got the legs to play in a midfield like Walter wants to play. He’s a deep playing conductor kind of midfielder not a guy like Slater who’s better running between the boxes.

People talking about hindsight and we haven't even kicked a ball yet. I'd perhaps sway more to focusing on foresight as a suggestion.

There's loads of time left yet and it seems like the money side of things is at least being handled sensibly. Right now I honestly don't see what the problem is. I understand the concern but this thread reads like people clutching at straws to try and predict the worst case scenario.

I thought he played some of his better football employed further up the pitch for Rosie towards the end of the season, certainly in the press anyway.
