Sporting Index now have Spurs just ahead of Chelsea in their seasonal points market.

    Current odds are:

    Man City Points 87.5 - 89
    Man Utd Points 83 - 84.5
    Tottenham Points 75 - 76.5
    Chelsea Points 74.5 - 76
    Arsenal Points 68.5 - 70
    Liverpool Points 68.5 - 70

Given that we are already 5 points ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand, this implies we get pretty much the same number of points as them from the remaining games which seems a bit pessimistic to me.

We are also 21-24 on the championship index (an artificial construct with 60 scored for first place, 40 for second, 30 for third, 20, 10, 5 for 4th to 6th). I'm winning heavily on a bet I opened at 8! COYS

I think that they are being a bit optimistic for Chelsea especially if AVB is sacked,it will throw them into turmoil.

I think they're being generous to us. It's nice to be third but I don't expect us to be there come May.

To be fair, I doubt he expects us to be third in May either. Difference is I don't think we'll be 18 points clear at the top of the league :D

Yep, I'd take 4th and winning the EL, and then this team would become legendary.

Bookies are never generous - they lay odds which means they rarely, if ever, lose. So I guess this refects the bets they've been getting.
I think we're good enough for third and could finish even higher with some luck, but I'd be happy with fourth, but really upset if we came lower now.

I know how bookies work but just as how there was a lot of excitement about Liverpool at the start of their season and their odds dropped way below what it should have been, we are a little too short now. Smart money will still be on Chelsea.

Right now, 4th would be a disappointment.

We're 3rd, with a game in hand to go 2nd, win that and we're 3 points behind City. Right now, getting 4th at the end of the season would mean us slipping up and our rivals catching us which would be a massive disappointment for me. Bar City at home, we've beaten the rivals that need to be beaten (and should be beaten), Utd away is a game that we're not expected to win and it took a poor second half for us to lose that game, we matched them for the first 45 minutes with a reserve CM pairing of Niko and Jake and didn't have Ledley or Ade in the side. Ade, Luka, Scott and Ledley are not just first teamers, they're key players this season, have them back for the home game and we'll see a much closer game I feel.

Keep aiming for fourth and we'll never become a top team. The players are starting to believe in themselves (just see Gallas' article today with Sky), we need to believe in them too.

Think you'll find that we'll go 4pts behind city if win the game in hand, but still a very good position to be in.<ok>

Totally agree with that. There is also a very tangible benefit to coming 3rd rather than 4th in that we don't have a qualification round (and a potentially massive banana skin) in August.

I think it's time to accept that we have a very, very good squad who are playing very well. I'm sure Harry knows in his heart that aiming for higher than 4th is really not unrealistic considering the position we currently find ourselves in. And we're not there by fluke either.

    <ok> Spot on mate.

Many people seem to base past glories and recent history on what we and others should be aiming for in the present. Right now our current squad is filled with top class talent that can walk in to 95% of teams in Europe let alone this league. Over the years Levy has pumped millions into our squad, you could argue the fact that it's taken us far too long to get where we are now. Start of the season getting 4th may have been seen as a good achievement, now, personally I'd see 4th as a slight disappointment. We're better than Arsenal and Liverpool, Chelsea's form compared to ours at the moment suggests we're the better team for now and I'd like to keep it that way.

Perhaps some fans are a bit sceptical about stating high ambitions incase of other fans coming over to wum and say what ever but why bother about what they say? Even if we don't reach our goals we still need to aim for them otherwise what's the point in us keeping players like Bale/ Modric/ Rafa etc if we're setting targets that players of less calibre could probably reach. The three players I just mentioned along with many others in our squad are more than capable to play for title winning/ challenging sides, so while they're contracted to Spurs, why shouldn't we set the type of targets these guys warrant?

If only that could be a reality.

We'd get an extra 10 for the way we're playing at the moment! Breathtaking stuff at times.
