I have read many articles where journalists comment on the intelligence of Vettel, something that is perhaps missed or ignored on the overall speed of drivers, however in the recent article from Mark Hughes there is an interesting and extensive analysis of not only his but other drivers' traits as well. Some noteworthy bits include:

He has a very powerful array of assets but perhaps the most potent of all is his raw intelligence; a hungry mind and a sharp one.

Vettel's hungry mind had absorbed the sport's history in detail and even in the midst of coping with a problem during the race, he had the spare capacity to start quoting it.

"I hadn't realised how much more there was to come from him," Sauber sighed reflectively. "The most amazing thing about him is his intelligence."
Alonso was another intelligent driver, someone ventured. "Yes, true. But Seb is much more so."

Vettel's intelligence seems to be of a broader spectrum than that of any of his peers, a sign usually that it's more adaptable - and it's adaptation that has marked out his performances this year.

Combine that with the traits described earlier - and those of the Red Bull RB7, a car with devastating performance but not very raceable on account of lack of straight-line speed and a weak Kers power-boost system. That is one very tricky package to maximise.

Well I guess that's one thing Seb and you share in common then, the intelligence but not the overtaking skills as he has proved it more than enough times to make another comment by yours laughable.

There is no such thing as a GOAT in F1, maybe best of a certain decade, but that's it.

Seb the greatest in the 10's... Well he is the only person to win the WDC in this era at the moment and is the youngest world champion/ x2 in current history. So if vettel doesn't deserve to be considered, then the rest don't even have a stepping stone to stand on since they haven't beat him yet in this era.

He cant be that intelligent if he goes against his team when they tell him to slow down. sure.. he is having fun but it will get him in trouble one day.

As for title of legend.. if he can win a title at another team then yes he can have that title.

There is a GOAT. Senna. He simply was the best you can sense in your mind no one will ever be better than him. If anyone does half of what he does(not WDC's) then I'll be surprised.

Vettel is turning F1 quite boring and so are Red Bull but credit to them for pushing as hard as they can and I am sure Vettel will be fighting next year but he won't win next year's title in my opinion

Vettel is intelligent, I think intellingence is surely a must have to be an F1 driver - even a pay driver.

Adrian Newey is the stand out intelligence

The GOAT is and always will be simply an opinion. In my opinion I wouldn't call any driver a legend until their career is over.

N.B. The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the Bovidae family and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over three hundred distinct breeds of goat.

LOL!!! That made me laugh - i'll remind you - Brazil 2009 round the OUTSIDE of Rubens in turn 6 (Legard: "What a move there by Vettel!!!") and then Monza 2011, one of the best overtakes of the season on Alonso, who is known for his defending aggression!

Im afraid saying Seb cant overtake does not hold water is just plain wrong.

p.s. there are numerous other examples of brilliant overtaking!

wow, i was wondering how long it would take before vettel becmae the new alonso on here, with pointless articles about how much they love their driver.

fair enough make it about your driver, but at least have a point

Well here is another journalist giving his thoughts about Vettel on the show The flying lap around 1h mark, though I know what part of his answer Vettel nay sayers would focus on. According to him "he is the most intelligent grand prix driver, a very smart cookie " and "he says really deep things like in India"
