Again this was before my time and i may well be missing something, but didn't the outgoing labour chancellor basically leave a note to the incoming chancellor saying "there is no money left" or something like that?

I'm sure those things you've posted were great, but any party can list achievements whilst being in poor....none are keen to admit their **** ups and failures though are they

That keeps getting repeated over and over as if it's a genuine thing, it wasn't. There's a running gag when a party leaves to have a note handed over, the Tories left a similar one when Labour took over. Classic Tory playbook, they made out it was serious and that Labour was to blame through overspending and not the enormous global financial crash that had happened a few years prior. There was a note, but it was left in jest.

I think about this monologue a lot when I think about politics

I hate all comments along the lines of ‘is this the best we can choose from?’

No. It isn’t. We can do far better but the gutter press and the clickbait and the short attention spans and the blaming of anyone but ourselves means not much will ever change in this country, sadly.

We could have real change if we wanted it, but no one can be bothered to do it.

Anything else is just rearranging the deckchairs on the titanic. First past the post and articles written for shock value should be the first to go, but we won’t.

You mean like labour will blame the Tories for the state of the public purse and conveniently forget about the once in a lifetime global pandemic and the Russia Ukraine war? .... They are both as bad as each other let's be fair

I 100% agree a change is needed, I also think it'll end up being worse under Mr flip flop and we as individuals will be worse off. Hopefully I'm wrong.....but let's not forget, Labour aren't getting in because they are offering us something better, huge change or because Kier is a knight in shining armour who's the answer to all our prayers. They are getting in because the Tories are just that bad.
How can it be much worse ?
We are at 90% UK Debt to GDP.
2007 WAS 37%

Right, though there is a bit of a difference because while we can't do anything about the war per se, we absolutely could have handled Covid better given all the PPE scandals and contracts to mates etc, Michelle Mone springs to mind. I mean, after 14 years in power and to be worse off it's hard not to blame them, really.

They're pro IDF, anti trans, anti socialist and haven't put forward a solid green energy plan. They effectively purged the left wing element of the party to pander to disenfranchised Tory voters at the cost of a lot of what they see as expendable votes.

Any evidence of them being anti trans? Nothing wrong with Israel reacting to a bunch of murderous terrorist thugs, or as the BBC describe them “people working for Hamas” as hey would for plumbers and electrician. There is no such thing as a solid green energy plan. Especially as the rest of the world have yet to come up with one.

This obsession with Israel and Palestine in UK politics has to stop FFS.

People are getting voted in on their stance on this subject when it’s got **** all to do with us.

Our country has got ninety nine problems but Palestine ain’t one.

Labour ( and any party for that matter ) would have done the same with contracts in that instance. Things needed to be sorted quickly and in times like that you go to people you know and ( hope ) you can trust. But putting that aside....the handouts everyone got, the handouts all the businesses got etc etc had to be funded somehow and from somewhere, unfortunately that doesn't come free. Some things were 100% handled wrongly and with the benefit of hindsight can easily be picked apart.

Tbh I bet rishi is going to love being the opposition, it's got to be the easiest job in the world, you can promise the earth, tell everyone how you'd do things better, criticise absolutely everything the government does. All from the safety of never actually having to do anything and with the benefit of hindsight.
