Most of the 'far rights' policies in Europe now aren't that different from a conservative's in the 1990s.
- Immigration to be based on what you can give the country you are moving to and harder on crime and punishment.

In fact, economically and a lot of social policies, most of Europe's far-right are more left than Labour - increased investment in low income areas, better health care for those who paid in and higher benefits for those who have lost work.

Yeah, and that’s what I find interesting. Farage is more of an anomaly amongst the far-right in Europe because he’s a Thatcherite when it comes to economics. Deregulation, privatisation and Austrian school economics aren’t that popular with the far-right on the continent.

The far-right parties on the continent are social democrats/Keynesians when it comes to economic policy, for the most part. I mentioned the Danish People’s Party earlier and some of their policies in 2015 wouldn’t look out of place in a Corbyn manifesto. Nationalisation of key utilities, lower pension age, strong welfare state, more funding for healthcare and social care, subsidised housing etc. It’s their policies on social issues, immigration and culture/heritage which get them labelled far-right in the 21st century.

The official Monster Raving Loony Party manifesto for General Election 2024

Foreign Policy…Once in Government, we will replace the Foreign Secretary with a British one!
Self-Serving….. Anyone using a self-service till in a supermarket will be given a 10% discount off their shopping.
Immigration..We will replace employees of the Border Force with GP receptionists. This will dramatically reduce the number of people getting in.
V.A.T….We will get rid of VAT as it adds no value.
Fly Tipping..We will ban all tipping of flies, insects, and zips of any kind.

I see they've dropped the idea from many years ago of extending the channel tunnel to Rotherham.

If I could vote for them I would

I don't disagree.
But just to say the lie the Tories have been saying about how they are cutting taxes is an even bigger wopper!! The tax burden has not been cut under Sunak, it has continued to increase due to the impact of the thresholds being frozen, the financial impact of which far outweights the cuts in NI.
Why can't they just tell the truth.

Technically they aren't lying as they are cutting taxes, but it's smoke and mirrors... Taxes had to go up to pay for all the COVID support people and businesses got and anyone who thought otherwise is delusional. As you say the freezing of the thresholds is the biggest con going!

The tax burden now is appalling, but under labour it will only get worse and they'll just hide behind the simple line "we had to do it because of the Tories" I really don't know how starmer can say "he won't raise taxes for working people" with a straight face. I absolutely guarantee working people will see tax rises almost in the first budget

My prediction...

Best result would be for all parties to get exactly the same amount of seats and have to work together, but that would be in some other parallel universe.

The one where the number of available seats was divisible three ? ;)

Labour will win a huge landslide which isn't good for democracy. Labour will in power for 30 years.

I expect Labour to be more professional and less sleazy, but I don't expect things to change for people at the bottom.

Correct and this is why the European far right like National Rally in France are holding their gains and Farage is far more a reactionary protest vote.
Interesting to see if the NR take power in France how it improves our stop the boats campaign or not?

As I wrote in an earlier post, most people on here would not meet Starmer’s definition of working people. So can expect to be paying more tax. Yet people not working would meet his definition of a working person.<laugh>
