no but I did notice that Rice didn't want to pass to Trippier on many occasions
when it was the easier or best option

Probably because if it goes to trippier at left back all he’ll do is control it, close off his body and have to pass it back to rice or guehi as he seems unable to somehow open up and use his left to go down the line - albeit he also never has an option there cos foden has drifted inside to play at 10 again.

That whole left hand side is a mess and not really either players fault as neither of them want to be out there.

Trippier has rarely had an option going forward since, you you said, Foden has drifted inside and no one has covered the hole he's created.

Think Foden had four shots last night - all from inside right ....

Yep! I really hope the Southgate fans watched Austria.. if not that's good football yeah.

It's mental how good we would be with Palmer or Gordon on the wing, Foden in CAM, and Bellingham dropping back....although another factor is that we'd need to actively press, not just stand around like a bunch of lobotomised stoners.

Palmer and Gordon offer different things tbf, Palmer is a more consistent goal scorer, but Gordon is perfect for opening defenses, getting teams on the back foot etc. Starting Palmer then subbing him for Gordon is the way imo...but this point is moot tbh as neither of them get on the ****ing pitch.

I'd live to see both on the pitch. Obvs we all know about Gordon and how good he is for us but Palmer is also pure class if you ask me. Great player. They've both got good mentality also. I think it's cool Palmer had the belief to say no chance I'm staying here picking up scraps of game time and waiting my chance, I'm moving somewhere where I'll be the main man.
