So you’re all for selling a potential superstar. To then spend the money on DCL?

Half the experts on here think Anderson is a potential superstar, I'd snap someone's hands off for £15m for him. Most haven't seen Minteh and are relying on rumours they've heard or read.

I'm happy to sign a good quality second striker (bare in mind that's what he'll be, good luck signing Toney to play second fiddle) and selling a player nobody's seen play or get an affinity to, to boost PSR considerably.

So It's about the bigger picture. Sell Minteh, sort out PSR, get a second choice striker that's a different option, keep Bruno and Isak. Then goodbye Minteh every single day of the week.

Not just him.... howe needs to show some balls this window and sell wilson Longstaff targett and almiron though ... Murphy too hopefully

Reckon 2 or 3 of them will happen. Can see Miggy, Wilson and possibly Longstaff going. Can't see anyone paying what we did for Targett or paying him the ridiculous wages he's on.

I think Longstaff is going to be here as long as Howe is breathing but I could be wrong.

Apparently we’ve offered Anderson in exchange for Kilman

Yeah got to say the few players that we've been confirmed to be interested in like Marmadashvilli and Olise are nothing but English, try hard, plodders. Oh wait <laugh>

Oh come on, we walked away from the keeper as soon as we could to chase Trafford. Olise was a token gesture, we didn’t even get near. We’re allegedly about to sign DCL following the signing of Kelly, who is almost certainly going to oust Hall from the starting XI. Players like DCL and Kelly, Trafford, etc. - i mean, who is genuinely excited by these names? By what they bring? Then you’ve got the issue of loading up on yet more mediocrity that’s hard to shift.

I don’t understand what’s complicated. Buy for your first XI and everything else is taken care of. As it stands we have Wilson and Isak. Neither reliable. DCL is swapping subs and about 6th on the priority list when you consider our Rw is garbage, central defence is crap, goalkeeper is average. If we’re “strengthening” the first XI with people like Kelly we’re ****ed.

Loading up the squad with Targett level players, both in terms of potential and (at least with Kelly and Calvert-Lewin) injury prone nature.

Exactly. People saying Kelly is a good deal cos he’s free. Hes a mid table left back (like Targett) with a poor injury record (like Targett) and will be first choice instead of Hall.

Staveley and Howes “brits first” is going to set us back another few years.

DCL is a terrible choice. Screenshot this. He’ll get injured before the season starts and we’ll have already sold Wilson. It says something when the most optimistic thing about the season ahead is not having European football, but that outlook is unlikely to be shared by the ownership.

Because we don't have the money perhaps? Between the transfer fee's and the wages we can offer we have to take smaller steps than some would like. By buying players that have played and performed regularly at PL level your removing a few issues immediately. You know they can play at that level and in most cases you know they can communicate with the language barrier.

The one strength Howe has is his coaching ability and his skill at improving players. I'll trust him to continue to do this.

If we'd gone and matched Olise's wage demands of £230k a week, we'd have Bruno wanting that level of wage, Isak wanting that level of wage, Botman wanting that level of wage and Gordon wanting that level of wage and quite right too. And then what was going to be a £10m a year wage deduction becomes a £30m - £40m wage deduction, without signing anyone else.

If we just bought for the 1st 11, what area's do we improve and how much do you think they'll cost? RW is clearly in desperate need of an upgrade. There's a £40m - £60m purchase, then I suppose we're looking at right centre back? Again £30m - £60m, then you have those that actually watch football and understand as good as Hall may become he's miles and miles off being a first choice left back at present. So where do you want to go for that one? Hernandez? There's £80-£100m. An then Pope, he might not be the same so lets go spunk £40m on a new keeper.

Then lets add in another striker to replace Wilson.....another £40m and another midfielder for £40m just to cover for injuries and a back up rw to cover the new rw,

Its completely unrealistic.

Howe doesn't want to risk anything.... it's probably because his network doesn't exist in Europe.. he's a nobody in that sense.

I definitely wondering where the scouts finds are? Why is every player so easy to find... is it the managers preference? Or are the scouts really just not finding any ?

Why are we so Tunnocks caramel?

I think some people hoped our scouting network would extend beyond Everton, Burnley, Leicester and Bournemouth by the third year of PIF ownership.

I’m fully aware of PSR restrictions - none of which extend to scouting networks. There is a definite resistance to foreign recruitment following EH grabbing more power. It’s unlikely to be a coincidence that we still have no replacement for Ashworth yet Howes nephew has been promoted.

That keeper is far from ****e, but I’d like to see Newcastle be the one to pick him up for £1.5m which is what he cost a year or two ago, it’s this lack of finding talent im finding irritating which then makes moves for bang average plodders like Trafford, Kelly and DCL harder to stomach.
I think Kelly is a smart signing, Liverpool and that were sniffing around him, don’t think that was a deal as easy as it was made out. I agree on Trafford especially though, it’s like Howe wants to build an England B side.
