Reid was wanted out early 97/98 after we lost 4-0 to Reading, he changed the team after that and the rest is historyEvery managerial appointment is a risk in some respect. We could have appointed Will Still in Dec, having paid £5m in compo and sacked him 12 games later. You just don't know if a manager is going to work out - look at MON and Moyes - superb careers elsewhere, but just didn't work here.
Peter Reid had a great first season here, then got relegated. In today's market he would have been sacked in 1997 and we would never have had those amazing years with Quinn & Philips.

It's a risk for definite. Hopefully its one that pays off.
I'd rather a risk than someone off the usual UK managerial merry go round though.
On a good day, we are a cracking fan base. But on a day which is even a little less good, we are terrible! Had regular arguments with people over supporting the team instead of turning on them 3 minutes into a game!
Apologies, has he been appointed yet?
Only by us on here.Apologies, has he been appointed yet?
Good tweet. Like I say, it’s not RLB’s fault. The fact it took so long meant expectation was elevated, and I think it’s fine that people have reservations. He will have everyone’s support once he’s in, I’m sure. Need a very good summer though.Good tweet here to put things into perspective...

My favourite example of this at the minute is Xabi Alonso. Relegated from the 2nd division in Spain, leaves the role and then gets the Leverkusen job as his next role. That's went pretty well for them hasn't it?Good tweet here to put things into perspective...

Win percentages and league positions mean zero because the situation is completely different from club to club.
