What’s this German team like? Back to their usual or still ****?
I was impressed the other night with Enni Aluko telling Lukaku what he should have done to score when he didn’t , I am sure he’s happy to take that on board !Early on today Karen Carney on ITV informed us that later today Germany were playing and if they won would have a good chance of qualifying. Obviously she isn’t employed just for her dulcet tones and perfect enunciation or as a box ticking exercise but for her ability to provide startling insights which would escaped the notice of lesser mortals.

Thought the same at the time. She also told us what she would have done differently to De Bruyne.![]()
It's widely known within the business that most people absolutely hate working with aluko and it shows TBF when you watch the reaction of most around her in the studios
Careful, the usual lot will be accusing you of a number of things ending in ism. Some people are beyond criticism.
Simon Jordan, git, doesn't seem to hold her in much regard. It's widely known within the business that most people absolutely hate working with aluko and it shows TBF when you watch the reaction of most around her in the studios

TBF Rio's come out with a couple of absolutely stupid comments recently as well.
But none of it comes close to ITV's introduction of a "laws" specialist. It's got to be the most boring introduction to football commentary ever. They make a completely boring subject more boring than you could possibly imagine

There are some fantastic female sports commentators and pundits.
Intelligent, knowledgeable, erudite and witty, with high degrees of broadcasting skill, they improve the watching and listening of their chosen sports.
Women like Isa Guha, Ebony-Rainford Brent, Alison Mitchell, standing on the shoulders of giants such as Donna Symmonds, have demonstrated their superb broadcasting abilities for years, long before it became a 'must have' stipulation for football broadcasting. They broadcast on cricket through merit, not quotas.
The main problem, I find, with female football pundits and commentators is that their style is a throwback to the football clichés of yesteryear. They've nothing interesting or worthwhile to say.
No style. No charisma. Characterless.
And most of them speak estuary English full of glottal stops. Not that the male ones are up to the standards of a Kenneth Wolstenholme or Barry Davies.
I generally agree with that but Robyn Cowen is a good commentator. There are some fantastic female sports commentators and pundits.
