I've already explained marraNot sure why we would put him on gardening leave when this summer is probably one of the biggest coming up
So your theory is we would have a new DoF overseeing business but not be announced until after the summer?I've already explained marra

Its all very quiet again.
The calm before the storm? Meaning a storm in a good way as a flurry of activity and an announcement?
Hold the back page!!
It's NOT over until the fat lady sings.
Reaches for beer...

This falls into my theory Speakman is toast. My original thoughts were KLD replaced Speakman in the hunt for the new coach, relieving Speakman of his duties. Speakman was downgraded to review the u21 squad, this article backs up this role. There are no quotes on coach recruitment or first team recruitment.
I believe Speakman will be removed in August/September after a handover to the new DoF. Removing him at the end of the last season would have been seen as a sign of weakness, the club being rudderless etc.
We shall see.

Just an interpretation of "soon"Funny how everyone seems to focus on the word imminently and ignores the word hope.
New DoF will be announced after the new coach is my thoughts... they would have less **** to answer if otherwiseSo your theory is we would have a new DoF overseeing business but not be announced until after the summer?
According to Clough, he applied 3 times for the managers job at Sunderland. It may just be coincidental that when the board later offered him the job he turned them down 3 times, but each time except the third, he left them a carrot to keep them interested.I’ve read the anecdotes about him, the ‘crawling on broken glass etc etc’ but I’m not sure if he really did want to be our manager. I am only 57 mind so happy to be corrected.
Has Phillips actually been any good in any of his jobs previously?I still feel we could be missing a golden chance here. Imagine we had a chance to sign Clough - which we did at one time - but we didn’t , and regretted not giving him his chance. I was one of the few wanting him here when he was at Hartlepool. I have the same feeling about Kevin Phillips. Would a temporary contract to Xmas really be a disaster? No matter what coach we get in, promotion is not nailed on. Could Phillips be the next Clough? In my opinion certainly worth considering. The way things are going what have we to lose?
A close relative of mine was a journalist covering Forest and he told me the reason Clough never came to Sunderland was his wife Barbara didn't want to move back to the North EastAccording to Clough, he applied 3 times for the managers job at Sunderland. They've all be in non-league so quite what credentials he has to manage in the Championship I don't knowHas Phillips actually been any good in any of his jobs previously?

Done okay at Hartlepool. Not sure about elsewhere. We’d be mad to appoint him but thankfully it won’t happen.Has Phillips actually been any good in any of his jobs previously?
No thanks... haven't heard the best of things about his time at Shields and Hartlepool.I still feel we could be missing a golden chance here.
