I see your Starmer and raise you our Albanese, here in Oz.
Supposedly, came from housing commission and no father, ( Mother had a root on the ship out here )....he fell into politics and found lying came naturally to him, now owns a number of homes and doesn't give a flying fcuk about the working class.

Organised people smuggling gangs are a scourge of the Continent of Europe. Greece, Germany, Italy, UK, France etc have been hunting them, but whenever there is a success in capturing theses criminals, another Kurd, Iraqi, Afghan etc gang will move in to fill the vacancy because people smuggling is one of the most lucrative activities they can undertake, and multiple millions are made on short order.

Now, entering this fray is noble Sir Keir, the Toolmaker's son, on his trusted steed. He promises to put a group of merry men together, and, with his sword swinging, smash the gangs and future gangs that the rest of Europe has failed to do for years.

Anyone believing that needs their head tested...

Well the Tories had 14 years to leave us in a better state than when they took office and failed.

Here in Wales, Labour has had 25 years ….

Yeah, but they did manage to introduce an extremely popular new speed restriction, I gather.

Well the public though bumbling boris would put a stop to it but instead we got kim jong un junior handing goodies to his mates whilst giving free reign to all to come to britain.

No need to mention the rest of the clowns that followed. The people have had enough and unfortunately have to turn to the equivalent of a witch doctor. Hopefully if he fails he will do it without having lined the pockets of all his mates

You're right the Tories failed abjectly on legal immigration, but Starmer dumping Rwanda is idiotic. Illegals were clearly spooked by it, hence the exodus to ROI. Starmer doesn't want Rwanda to work because it was a Tory idea. He'd rather have no policy.

Labour trumpeting that arch Brexiteer and phone flogger billionaire John Caudwell, the Tories biggest single donor at the last election, has now switched sides to them. Not something I would be advertising if I were them, and particularly not getting him to big up Starmer from his hideous blinged up Mayfair mansion.

Meanwhile Laura Trott (apparently chief secretary to the treasury, not the multiple gold medal winning Olympic cyclist) spends an entire Tory party political broadcast standing behind a lectern and talking about Labours alleged tax plans. And for some reason grinning all the way through it.

Ah, so Starmergeddon thinks you’re only working class and thus won’t get a tax hike if you haven’t got savings or a cheque book. For the rest of you sinners it’s trousers down, bend over and brace yourself for the great tax rogering.

We have a massive tax burden now yet everything is still ****ed. I doubt playing this card is going to cut through for the Tories anywhere near as much as it usually does.

The Tories could offer free Tangfastics and a weekly go on Penny for all and still get a drubbing.

In the glorious leftie paradise of Brighton and Hove I’ve had a leaflet through from Reform (the candidate’s surname is Hess which I found quite amusing). The Greens claim only they can beat Labour. The local Hamas candidate claims only she can free Palestine. Nothing from the Tories as yet at all. Even Sunak is now campaigning in the sort of places a huge majority would normally be guaranteed.

It’s a small shame the massive Labour majority won’t get half as much coverage as the New BNP winning poxy Clacton.

The weekly go on Penny isn’t doing it for me. Especially if I’m far back in the queue.

Does the great British public actually fixate on taxes in the way that Tories and their client media seem to think they do? It seems they're desperate to make people scared that their taxes will rise massively under Labour, but it's not having any impact in the polls. Don't people by and large just want better public services? Never in my life has my vote been cast based on which party will cut my taxes the most.

I heard Starmer interviewed on LBC yesterday and he came across fairly well on a range of issues, but the headline afterwards was all about what he didn't say, 'Starmer refuses to rule out council tax rises'. I'd say local authorities being allowed to increase council tax and use the money to improve social care would be a good thing, but Starmer wouldn't say that. Why would it be so controversial?

The top one per cent pay 30 per cent of all income tax revenues: a higher share than at any time in past twenty years. In other words, three in every ten pounds that the government receives in income tax is paid by just over 300,000 individuals.

...and they're leaving the UK in numbers

I don't personally but it doesnt affect me and in not greedy about the differences in my finances.

For anyone who is ambitious and cares about accumulating wealth, the squeezed middle and the poor, of course they care about this stuff. Its a no brainer and i think most people do care. Certainly everyone i know care
