I went fishing before it started and it had finished by the time I was heading back. Listened to Savage and Sutton sparring over the analysis on the radio when driving home.
Not much to get excited about. Bellingham is just such an unlikeable person, strutting around like he’s a level above everyone else. The US Open golf was much more entertaining.
A Saesneg colleague of mine arrived at work yesterday and his first words to me were "When are Wales playing?". In an instant I switched to wanting Serbia to win that game last night.
ITV coverage is bad enough with it’s advertisements, but one accepts that is part of the deal....however these fuggin’ competitions with huge entry charges get on one’s tits! I know they get on Clingy’s tits too because he often complains when we’re cuddling watching the game...play us a love song Irish please pal Masky
It's true but I don't know what good will comes of you telling the world about us. What if Jck in his dipsy state, reads that and gets a nudge in his rompers? He'll end up trying to stir his Cow and Gate with his tinky wonky while sitting on the po and singing la la. But I know what it's all about. I'm just a trophy wife aren't I?
Fair play to Slovakia they are taking the Belgians all the way here. 4 minutes to play Lukaku has had two goals disallowed, correctly. The Belgians do look good though but it's not going to be their night.
But will Masky make it Clingo's? I enjoyed the Romania win over Ukraine. Lots of passion, commitment plus goals. And lots of yellow off the pitch. It will be a veritable kaleidoscope of orange and yellow should Romania play Holland.
Was that really handball by that Belgian winger? VAR living up to its potential to ruin football again.
One man's ruin is another man's new build...or something. I like VAR but I'm not necessarily trusting of the adjudicators at times.
You probably know my views on VAR by now The new semi automatic offside seems to be better then those lines but decisions like the handball one today are just ridiculous.
It’s all press hype mate. Yes, we should have been more assertive in the game - and our attacking line IS strong - on paper, but I don’t honestly think you will find many of us England fans genuinely believing that we are going to win the trophy. Most of us think we might realistically limp through to the quarters - and that’s it. And all the talk of 1966 every tournament for me just underlines how underwhelming and overhyped we’ve been for the past 58 years.
Yep, I know there are a few genuinely grounded England fans that (much like the rest of us mere mortals) hope for victory and success rather than expect it, but sadly, especially where England is concerned, too many gullible fans have been drinking from the FA / Media hosepipe for too long and have actually started to believe that the likes of Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham ARE world beaters already, when in reality they are still fairly young players playing for clubs that tend to dominate games anyhow... Don't get me wrong, the majority of the squad are excellent players, or very, very good at least but again I heard one of the pundits (may have been Micah Richards) the other day say that England have the best squad at the tournament!! I don't even know how you'd make a judgement like that? I though Fabergas was very balanced and tried to hint at England just not having the players to play like Spain when the others were all banging on about dominating the ball throughout etc. and he is right... do fans really think Southgate told Foden to welly the ball 40 - 50 yards up field without looking for a man in the 2nd half of the game the other evening?? Of course he didn't, the players themselves were taking those decisions... yes Southgate could have changed things earlier but would bringing on Cole Palmer REALLY have had the effect the pundits reckoned it would or would it have just left England slightly more exposed to Serbia's counter attacks?? Without a crystal ball - who knows eh? The hilarious thing is, when we get back to club football, how many England fans that believe the squad is packed with some of the best talent in the world will fail to see the irony when they start digging at the very same players and trying to justify why someone like Son at Spurs is a far better player than Saka or Rashford is better than Foden etc... ???
The pundits are just there for a freeby holiday with lots of Pilsner and frankfurters. I don’t listen to them.
I have hope and dreams - but that’s different from expectations. Just like being a Bristol City fan - my side gives me a little teaser by winning a couple of games - perhaps one thumping win, just to draw you in, you start to think ‘hey - we can really do this’ and then pfffft. The usual fizzle out.
