If it were the other way round, and you had the option to ‘rest’ key players and accidentally let Scotland win to eliminate Australia, how many of us would happily have seen that happen?
I just don’t think it is the English way to let Scotland win. I don’t think it is the Aussie way to let anyone else win at all.
Did anyone watch the Aussies? Looking at just the score it seemed extremely tight. Watched the highlights and it looked like Aus only bowled spinners for most of it!
Getting back to my post yesterday, about the West Indies now being at the start of the rainy season, how embarrassing would it have been for the tournament if 2 or 3 of the top teams had been eliminated as a result of not being able to play? The weather records are there to be seen so why put a major tournament at risk of being literally washed out seems daft, to put it mildly.
Glamorgan's NRR has been trashed. And Kent's NRR is on course to be trashed (albeit at the expense of Gloucs improving theirs).
So the 2 Super 8 groups are: England SA USA West Indies India Afghanistan Australia Bangladesh I know which one I'd rather be in! Afghanistan look very strong. Although so do the Windies TBF.
It's unlikely, but Netherlands might yet finish ahead of Bangladesh overnight. Nepal will be gutted that they couldn't get over the line vs SA. Real shame, it would have left Bangladesh v Nepal as a straight KO match.
Looks like I won’t be watching the next England T20 match v the Windies. Retired or not, I am not sitting up to watch a game at 01.30 BST (02.30 CET where I am). Fortunately the other two England games are 15.30 BST.
