I think Trafford will be a good signing for the future.

Kelly is a good centre back.

Would be happy with both personally.

It can't be worse Gillespie and Dummett at the end of the day. There's hopefully going to one exciting signing, but the way things sound that's unlikely.

Not in the slightest. Marginally improving your bench is a ****ing stupid strategy.

Depends on the money. I'm the GK situation is a tough one as not sure how Pope is going to hold up. Given funds are tight due to FFP I think if we knew Pope was going to be good to go all season then it makes sense to spend the real money in outfield positions so Trafford can be a good option. If Pope is going to be injury prone id argue GK could be the most important position to fill with ready made quality.

Be quite happy with gibbs-white joining. Though if it's for RW would prefer a high quality specialist rather than an AM that can cover there.

I'd be delighted with gibbs white but think he might be too expensive. I don't buy into any links to players in Europe and especially not the likes of Chiesa or that kid at Lyon who looks exactly what Howe would avoid.

Eddie's beige.

Gk imo is possibly the most important position.. it's never the most exciting transfer but a good keeper would be a game changer.

Newcastle only have Pope, but he's unfortunately unable to kick a ball and an injury is almost guaranteed when he lands on that shoulder.

Shoulder in a GK is a nightmare, hard to fully recover and mentally trust that side again. Pope wasn't great in the first place, so alongside RW it's probably the most important 1st team position to improve.

But Eddie always sticks to what he knows - I would bet a lot of money we will line up Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn and Kelly for the first game.

I was thinking at one point, although it seems to have gone quiet that if this deal for Millivanilli was a genuine possibility then we should probably go to for it as it's not easy to lay your hands on a top quality keeper.

I absolutely agree.... longstaff if he's still here will start too.

Howe will not want to drop Pope or any of his mates that he's brought here, so by signing a **** keeper from Burnley instead he avoids that issue... he'd have to sell Pope or listen to him complaining until at least a January. I can actually understand his approach.

Just had a look at Kelly’s stats for last season. Doesn’t inspire confidence. 6.4 avg score across the season which puts him 19th best in Bournemouths squad.

If he was that good and free one of the big clubs would be like yeah go on then. He simply cannot be worse than Dummett or Krafth though... surely?

I have watched him up close quite regularly (when fit) he is a good defender and takes responsibility on the pitch. On a free it's good business. Fitness does seem to be a problem though.

Newcastle have to bring in 30 to 50 million just to meet ffp.... budget for this window is small.
