If I went 4 2 3 1 Gareth style I would be playing;

Pickford
Walker (RB)
Branthwaite
Maguire (because you know he just will)

Shaw (LB)
Rice & Mainoo, double pivot whatever he calls it.
Palmer on right
Bellingham at 10
Foden on left
Kane

My centre half partnership went well!

I'd have Dunk and Guehi instead then.

Am I the only one thinks Stones is utter gash as an actual centre half? Plus, he's played even fewer league games than Maguire this season just gone.

I'd drop Saka, one of the Arsenal cheats aint he, we don't need that in the England team, fook him.
European refs aren't fooled by his obviously coached diving, which is what gave France the ball for the goal that knocked us out last time. I'd have Bowen there, he stays on his feet and scores last minute european trophy winning goals. He's also far more suited to Southgate's style.

Said on another thread that it's a back 3 for me with Stones doing his City thing and stepping into midfield.

Pickford

TAA and Shaw wing backs

Konsa Stones Guehi

Bellingham Rice in the middle

Saka Kane Foden

Now ...

Pickford (although he does worry me at times)
Walker (need his speed)
Guehi
Stones
TAA (with caveat that Mainoo helps to bale him out defensively)
Rice
Mainoo
Bellingham
Saka
Kane
Eze

And Palmer who will be free to run forward.

Grealish had 3 goals and 3 assists all season. Theres no way he should be starting over the likes of Foden. Id even play Anthony Gordon over him if i had my way.
Hes one of the most over rated players in the Premiership.
Can't be overrated, pep spent 100m on him and peps a genius.

Your sincerely brb

I think Pickford should be allowed to roam into the oppositions penalty area for some unexpected tap-ins. It's not like he does anything in his own box.

He's ESPECIALLY not doing anything today! :bandit:

Hopefully last night will curb our usual over inflated expectations - we have a good squad, particularly in terms of attack - but personally I din't think we have the best in the competition - Harry Kane will only get the Golden Boot if we get a lot of penalties - Bellingham is a fantastic player but France have Dembele and Coman who are both as good as Saka (IMHO) and they have Mbappe...

Eze is, potentially, our wildcard ...

... but defence is our achilles heel ... add Greizeman and even Giroud to those French forwards and picture last night's defence trying to deal with them rather than the boys whose fans sing Ja Ja Ding Dong so well ... I'm sure we would raise our game - but even so... <laugh>
