You've no idea of the process that was gone through for any of the three names you mention. You're jumping on the no news is bad news bandwagon.
You say Mowbray was a good process, but in a short space of time,it ultimately fell sour, Neil got us promoted....was it a failure in the process that we didn't know he was a greedy, duplicitous man......however,agree about Beale, although we're not quite sure what the thinking was in his appointment anyway.
I have a feeling the problem with our selection process is we have always been looking for a short term fix, when we might ultimately be better with a more balanced, patient, longer term view.

Isn’t it pretty unheard of that clubs (particularly of our size) announce a manager without any media at all getting a sniff of it?

:emoticon-0102-bigsm I'm discretely using my phone, deep behind enemy lines. On a separate note, the metro and Newcastle are eerily quiet today

Im not disagreeing with that, the DoF or technical director roles at club are arguably the most important roles

Ive heard some great things about speakman in that role n ive heard some shocking - i suspect his ability is somewhere in the middle

Last yr was a shocker from him but he did get more decisions right than wronflg the 2.5 seasons before that tho

The whole player trading model takes yrs b yrs to get right, especially when you think about how bad it was before he came in

Regarding style of play I don't think Rosenior was as bad as is made out, and the Hull fans didn't seem to have a problem with it. They were actually gutted he left which is pretty rare. Also who's to say he didn't think that was the best fit for that team at that time and wouldn't take a fresh approach with his next club. He's not even 40 yet.

The point was, with the older lads in the pub, they're known commodities. When you mention Germany youth coaches or Eredivisie coaches not at Champions League clubs, they don't know who they are or how to work out if they're any good.

I don't know what goes on at other clubs or particularly much at ours.
But we are running it better than a lot of other clubs. And certainly much better than the last owners.

We brought in Niel who got us promoted then fooked off, Mowbray who did well then sacked after a lean spell, then fooked up with Beale and sacked after a short stint.

I'd like to think the club are trying to get this appointment right. There are available managers out there but how many are within our grasp ? And how many of those left would we want. ?

Maybe we were holding out for Still etc. and now Still seems to have had his head turned.

Yes, every manager is a risk to one extent or another .
But it seems the club can't win either way with some fans. Get a quick manager in, fails, poor recruitment.
Club takes it's time appointing manager, poor decision making.

So no, a quick appointment doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be shìt. But was anyone available when we sacked Beale is the question?
And maybe why it's taken so long.

From an optics / fan reaction perspective we could really do with announcing our Head Coach before Still is announced at Lens

I mean there's a great interview with someone from a data company we used at the time who talks about how we identified Mowbray.

With the Neil appointment if you watch Sunderland Till I Die it doesn't paint Speakman in a great light. He applied while we were chasing Keane, there was no succession planning for Johnson leaving.
