Know it isn’t particularly relevant to the thread but any suggestions as to who the ‘special friendly’ is that Acun mentioned during the press conference?

I would bet good money it’s Fenerbache again. I love the tour of Turkey but I’d love to see a high profile friendly at home one time. Ipswich had Leipzig last year and Leeds play Valencia.

Tim came across really well. Felt like someone slipped Acun a note to tell him to back track/explain a bit re Pandur. Imagine if that was Tan and Tim it would have oozed class. Acun is too casual, too relaxed.

Thought there was too much off Liam in it.

I would have liked to hear what he knows about the club and the city. What he looks for in a player, size of squad, importance of academy/youth.

Interesting he worked with Pep at Bayern II. He also took Tommy Doyle on loan (didn't quite work out) but I wonder if we might some more Man City loanees.

Real madrid
Heard it here first

Who the **** was the first interviewer? Slurry bullshit questions in indiscernible English with half-finished words and cack-handed pidgin Hullisms. Great impression for the incoming manager who spoke better English than the so-called journalist.

Well you said something about social media in reply to somebody saying something
about what Acun actually said today
He’s right though

Someone on Twitter has already made a post about Acun naming the team even though Acun very clearly says it’s the managers decision completely, said poster then admitted they hadn’t even watched the interview.

That was me. I saw the David Burns tweet without context and assumed. Obviously been corrected since and hold my hands up.

If the original statement were as stated I would stand by my point however. Quick to react on my part but I was working and unable to watch the interview live so forgive me

I would hazard a guess at either Monaco (Ligue 1 runners up) as he's been there a lot, Fenerbahce because it's Acun or AS Roma, as we were supposed to play them in a pre season last year but it never happened and we played Nantes instead.

You clearly weren't paying attention then.
Go on then.
Did he say that he picks who plays and who doesn't? Did he say that he identifies who to buy and makes the decisions?
What I heard was him clarifying, yet again, that the 'coach' decides who plays and who doesn't, and that the scouts and 'brains trust' identifies the players we should go for then the coach has his say on the proposal then Acun decides how hard they go for the player in question (as it's his money).
Do tell me what I've got wrong.

He only had to clarify his position again, because he started the press conference by once again banging on about Pandur being our number one keeper for next season. Presumably Tan had a word at some point and he returned to it later in the interview to again say he wouldn't interfere in team selections, it seems he didn't learn from the fuss caused after the fan meeting. I'm sure he's not planning on picking the team, but he should really not be putting himself in this position.
