I heard a clip of some numpty on the radio - essentially the argument was that Ipswich will come straight back down so it’s a waste of a place, whereas Leeds would tear up the league. Exactly the same sort of nonsense we heard in November and still some of them haven’t learnt a lesson.
Still getting used to,and enjoying, seeing Premier League at the top of this site.It doesn't seem five minutes since the shame of Division One!
I think they all comment on the stuff at the bottom of the premier page, something that doesn't seem to happen on league one or the championship pages
Looking back on this thread a lot of it hasn’t aged well at all.I’d suggest one or two of us need to keep our powder dry until these situations have fully played themselves out!
Far from it. I think it would have derailed our campaign had he gone now so I’m glad he hasn’t. But it’s been an absolute **** show.
I have felt all along this difficult spell that MA, the Club and KM knew how to play their respective hands. Nowt wrong in entering negotiations but at the end of it all we have the best young manager committed to Ipswich, Suffolk and he will give it his best shot. We also appreciate that his beloved MUtd will come calling again one day. We can all breathe a huge sigh of relief, enjoy the Summer, be excited about new signings and Hampy can let his knickers dry on the line!
He’s not committed. What we now know is that he doesn’t see his long term future at ITFC. It could change, of course, but it doesn’t sound as though there will be a third statue at Portman Road of McKenna. A month ago I think most of us probably thought there would be. I don’t think the supporters are going to be any less vocal, but I don’t think he’ll get unconditional backing if we have a poor season and find ourselves in the drop zone. The thing that disappoints me about this deal is that we’re taking a £20m gamble on a successful season, and on the back of some of the air having been let out of the balloon over the last fortnight. It will be fascinating to see what happens over the first half a dozen games. Does McKenna have any other ideas? Will we get better at taking chances? Can we tighten up the defence? Which players does he consider Premier League calibre and which doesn’t he?
One thing that I think will stand us in great stead is that I expect us to be working toward improvements no matter the results, and if it takes the January transfers to get to the level and we climb the table in the second half of the season then so be it. I’d like to think that mentality will be the key to outperforming the weaker sides in the division who will go chasing results instead.
We will definitely break our record transfer fee several times during the window that’s for sure. I heard from one respected media source that we will be looking to spend in the region of between 80 and 90 Million total spend this Summer!
That’ll get you three good players these days. They will have been working on this for at least six months. Very much in our favour is that lots of clubs, even the top clubs, have got to sell. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we signed a rotation player from a top club.
Had something that made me laugh yesterday. Might be from last year and also not 100% sure it’s true but apparently someone called in to absolute radio with a dedication for a woman called…. Ellen Droad - song requested was love will tear us apart again I so want this to be true but whether it is or not, still funny
Yes it’s 100% true. Even better is Absolute Radio’s tweet: “Sorry to ruin everyone’s fun, but this didn’t happen tonight, the audio is actually from over a year ago, the last time Leeds fell apart.”
Need kit launch and retained list this week. Nothing has happened for three or four days and I’m getting bored.
