Means he must have built a dynasty. Happy days!
I'm counting on it! Next season is absolutely massive for him. Excuses are gone and he'll have a better squad than the one that finished 4th. I agree with Douglas, the squad needs trimming significantly - I don't like the noises about Howe wanting to keep people like Dummett, Ritchie, Almiron. I can believe that as well, given Longstaff's new deal.
As I said elsewhere a while ago, City won the league with around a dozen less registered players than Newcastle. Yes the quality is far superior, but when I look at our squad it doesn't make any sense to have the likes of Dummett, Ritchie, Krafth, etc., taking up room. The squad should be managed by having two players per position, with some of those adaptable enough to make up for emergencies, then solid youth.
We've got 4 goalies, which is one too many. We have 4 (including Ashby) right backs, one too many. 5 at CB is probably right, although obvs 2 have ACL's. 4 LB again one too many yet we're after Kelly. Burn can cover there as welll. Midfield is well stocked, but without a real CDM. Forwards we're light, in both numbers and quality. If it were me, I'd have:
GK - Pope, Marma, Karius
RB - Livra, Trippier
RCB - Tosin, Schar
LCB - Botman, Burn
LB - Kelly, Hall
CDM - Bruno, Ndidi
RCM - Tonali, Longstaff
LCM - Joelinton, Willock
RW - Raphinha, Murphy
CF - Isak, Sesko
LW - Gordon, Barnes
Then there's a few youth options to cover, including A.Murphy (def), Miley, White (midfield), Anderson, Minteh (attack). But for me you should be getting rid of Ritchie, Dummett, Krafth, Targett, Almiron, Wilson, etc.
