With Man U carrying out an "end of Season review" over the next week I think we're going to be in a state of limbo for at least another seven days.
My big fear about all this is that any time advantage we had by avoiding the Playoffs has been frittered away.

Yep, it's damaging and weakening everything, including everybody's faith and trust.

Thinking about it I don’t blame McKenna going to interviews wherever have a look around even if he has no great interest in joining said club, he could learn something that may help him/us going forward, if the reports of the bumper pay rise we are offering are true I can’t see Brighton snatching him only maybe Man Utd or Chelsea but I think both of those might want to have more control over decisions and not allow him the ‘oxygen’ to be most effective.

That said I’m also a little concerned if he signs the reported bumper deal that after a few months we could find fans calling for his head if results go against us, but if they are offering him what’s reported they will surely be backing him significantly in the transfer market, I honestly believe the club are not targeting mere survival I’d say realistic target is top end of bottom half.

A couple of weeks ago I was confident of a top half finish next season but I don’t believe that anymore.

over the last few years the club has barely put a foot wrong on and off the pitch, trust them to do what’s right it might be a case of not having enough solid info to be able to let the fans know so better to not give out info that turns out incorrect.

If hes hell bent on leaving then get him out the door as soon as possible so the Club has maximum time to find a replacement and the acquisitions needed, that includes backrom staff as well as players.
But if hes not leaving why doesnt he make a statement to that effect and put a stop to this rife speculation, which would be respectful towards the Club and the fans who have followed him everywhere.

Welcome back to the top flite people, your team has been away far too long.
As red Manc i think Kieran would be making a big mistake to leave you now and hope he realises this, if he would like a crack at the United job i coulld'nt blame him because he learnt his trade here. That said he needs to continue the job he's started with you and make you a PL regular.

Good luck for the coming season <ok>

Thanks for helping me understand things a little better, Yorkie & Nuggets; I do appreciate it. Still trying to wrap my head around all of it, but the information definitely helps. Guess I shouldn't try too hard to think about it until there's some definitive news one way or the other.

Welcome NotaYank! It is best not to over think things too much. What will be will be. And of course over this side of the puddle we play the real football!

Welcome to not606 Ipswich NotaYank, hopefully you will post on here more often. We are quite a friendly bunch, just beware of Nuggets and Redruth.....they can be a little too friendly!! Gaffer has a few senior moments, so you have to make allowances and Warky is an opinionated Tory Brexiteer but his bark is worse than his bite!!

And of course Leeds Utd can now celebrate with their number 1 super fan, Spanish, who of course lives in Spain, nowhere near Leeds!

Seems like Chelsea and Manchester United are prioritising other managers. Chelsea strongly linked with Leicester’s manager, which is great for us. Man United appear to be more persuaded by De Zerbi judging by recent reports.

For McKenna, I think it’s come down to join Brighton or sign the new contract here. Hopefully he stays, but I believe Brighton want it confirmed by the end of this week.

Nuggets you may be right, here's a quote from another forum:

"Friend of mine works at the council and they told me he rang up last week to inform them he's moving out and wanted to stop his Council tax Direct Debit. He gave a forwarding address in Sussex. Make of that what you will."

Kieran is coming to stay with me, oh dear! I can always welcome him with a solitary rotten tomato! Maybe Warky can join me.

I hope this is just another rumour.

It’s Groundhog Day. It’s got me thinking about much of this season, which was very intense with a range of emotions including elation but certainly not too much by the way of fun. I think I’d feel a sense of relief if the Brighton move was done, so we could get on with enjoying our summer.

I’m hoping for a quick resolution, so we know where we stand. Having said that, the longer this drags on the more hopeful I am that McKenna will end up staying.

I’m not sure if the club have had their talks with McKenna? Maybe they know he’s off regardless. I’m certain that Ashton and the club have got their shortlist for replacements ready. If and when McKenna does leave, I think it’d only be a few days until a replacement is confirmed. I think we’ll act fast on that front.

Hopefully we’ve given McKenna food for thought. If the two big club offers are off the table, I fancy our chances more. Ultimately, I don’t care if there’s another week of speculation if it means McKenna is staying.

If true, that rules out Brighton. However, I think he will have a release cause for Man Utd. Their summer is going to be a long one to decide what they are going to with Ten Hag. Very happy tonight though
