So you mean the loophole around this is for PFI to basically do something like buy out rolls royce in the name of newcastle FC by lending them a huge amount of money at minimal interest rates so they can make loads of football revenue and spend it on players instead?
considering you broke the EFL rules i'm unsure what status quo you are referring to and even i'm not old enough to remember being in Div 2
The reality is that those “lucky few years” existed for over a hundred years before the Sky era. I can’t have any sympathy for the clubs who never took advantage and made themselves the part of the elite everyone wants to gripe about. I’ll use my own club as an example, a lifetime of mismanagement, apart from a purple patch just before the war. This is the reason we are a basket case!
I agree with that, but do you think PSR might be hindering certain (lesser) clubs from capitalising on their success when they have got themselves in a position to make the step up. Villa being one example. They've made it into the CL but from what I understand they need to sell player(s) to comply with PSR. If that's the case they're going to end up going backwards next season because they won't be able to perform in the league or compete in the CL group stages. Seems like they're being stopped from progressing.
I agree the rules seem harsh, but I still maintain they are there for a reason which will benefit football in the long term. I also don’t think that being £115m in the red over a rolling 3 year period is chicken feed. If they do slip backwards then I think it reinforces that their business model is not sustainable. I know with some it’s an unpopular view, but it’s a simple solution to me, increase your revenues…then spend more!
The real story today is eleven league goals for Eze for the season. Get him on that ****ing plane Gareth you ugly ****.
Yup ... Villa reportedly will need to sell a big player in the close season or face a possible points deduction ... fitting reward for taking a CL spot from one of the usual suspects ... ... fair enough though - coz they would definitely have gone under otherwise
If Palace can hold on to their front 3 they could well have a cracking season next time around ... unless FFP undermines their progress, of course ...
