General chat should be gone. Its full of sick delusional idiots who hide behind screen names to be internet tough guys. And they most likely have no friends, are social outcasts and will be living with their parents till the age of 45.

It needs some serious Modding. Says alot when people refuse to post on there, and have to use their team boards with Off Topic threads.

This was me when I first went to see what General Chat was like:

Never again.

If true, it'd sadly be naive or unrealistically optimistic to hope the lowlife journos set on raking up the personal life of Gary wouldn't be able to live with their consciences having directly driven a well loved family guy to take his own life...

If it is true, that a tabloid was to release a story, theres no chance of them admitting to it having been them surely? As horrible a thing it is to think about, something has happened to drive Speed to do this and personally i'd rather not know or see it being brandished over redtop papers. He and his family deserve that at least, yet from what I gather the paparazzi are already swarming over his family and friends. Its awful.

<ok> Agreed. I don't want too know what was going through Gary's mind. It's none of my business, and disrespectful to his family. I just want to remember Gary for the legend he was.

The decision to take your own life is the greatest there is. Greater even than declaring war on another country. There has to be a good reason why he did it, especially for a man who was so aggressive, upbeat and positive on the field of play.

God bless you Gary Speed, whatever your reasons.

I think he may simply have missed playing to be honest and that the managerial side wasn't doing it for him. Whatever the reason it's very sad.

I agree with whatever triggered Gary's actions ending with him and the best things about the man being respected and remembered.

This may be totally unfounded and just press/twitter etc heresay. Sometimes there's a desire to try and rationalise things like this in moments of grief. I truly hope his wife and kids aren't dragged through the media circus as it tries to do so.

It's possible it wasn't actually suicide, but asphyxiation without suicidal intent. Much like that guy... in thailand, that karate actor? This happens a lot more than you think. it's some masturbation kink people get on.

I'm not sure that was necessary. We don't know the facts of his death, or what may have been his motivation in any suicide. Making comments such as these are liable to be misread as a sleight against him, which is, at best, disrespectful.

I heard about his death whilst listening to the Swansea v Villa game on Talk Sport. It's tragic, whatever the reason.

Not so sure it was missing playing, since he hasn't played for what 4-5 yearrs now.

When I first heard the news they didn't say how he died, but it later came out saying suicide which shocked me even more.

There has to have been something seriously wrong in his life for him to have done this, listening to 606 and Robbie Savage he spoke of him as someone who had 2 things in his life.

His Family and Football and Savage spoke how much he loved his wife and kids.

His football as Wales manager things were looking on the up there as well, won there last 3 games and started to look a real threat.

He seemed a very strong willed guy who wanted to succed, suicide doesn't often seem an option in lfe for people like him.

I just can't comprehend what drove him to it, and I'm properly gutted.

A genuine guy RIP :(

I hope heaven has Sky.
I'm sure him and Sir Bobby will have a catch up whilst watching the early kick-off on Saturday. <ok>
