was just about to say something along the lines of this, euro football, won a cup, decent league positions.... genuinely don't understand where West Ham think they should be.

Your last two lines are definitely true. From what I have heard, he remained very well respected among other coaches and managers at that level. Like you say though, the state the club was in was well known and people probably took that in to account.

Former Sunderland manager David Moyes has been fined £30,000 for his “slap” comment towards a journalist in March, the Football Association has announced.

Moyes was charged by the FA following a conversation which took place between the Scot and BBC Newcastle and Radio Five Live reporter Vicki Sparks at the end of an interview following Sunderland’s match against Burnley.

Moyes was unhappy with one of Sparks’ questions and said to her: “You were just getting a wee bit naughty at the end there, so just watch yourself. You still might get a slap even though you’re a woman. Careful the next time you come in.”

The 54-year-old came under criticism after footage of the exchange emerged in April and on Friday the Football Association said he had been guilty of “improper and/or threatening remarks”.

I have seen Moyes coach two sessions in person. They are of course technically excellent, not that I am necessarily fit to judge. What I was really impressed with were his instructions. Really clear and to the point, no lengthy talking, just this is what I want and go. If they struggled he broke it down a bit. I liked him, but then I like a lor of coaches.

I dont think he wanted out job if I am brutally honest. I think he needed a stepping stone after his Spanish debacle and he thought he might build off Allardyce. Issue was Allardyce left a bit of a mess behind and Moyes got cold feet sharpish. The media though assumed it was us not him, when in fact he could have done much more. In my opinion anyway. A lot of spin put on his time here, but no massive surprise he has done a good job at West Ham. He will do it again at another club I am sure. Like it or not he is a very good manager.

I know what he said, you don't need to post the video. The point I'm making is that "careful, next time you might get a slap" isn't a threat, it's a stupid throwaway line when someone is angry.
My father used to say he'd wring my neck. My Mum would tell me shed tear me to shreds. Neither of those things ever happened.
I have a running joke with my son where we offer to "smash" each other's faces in if the other is taking the piss. Again, no faces were smashed in the making of that joke.

Not all managers are good at recruitment. Its why a strong recruitment team is needed at every club, which at that time we didn't have. We didn't have much money to spend so he went with players he knew and trusted. He was poor here, I didn't feel like he gave his all but some things I can forgive him for.

I think you're probably right that he could have done more but I can believe that the reality was a disappointment when he walked in to the club. It wasn't just Allardyce that had left a mess, that stage of the Ellis Short regime would have been difficult for anyone. In retrospect I don't really blame him for saying we would struggle. It was true. He probably should have realised that saying it publicly was a bad idea though.

I played golf this afternoon with a good pal. He is involved in the footy agent game.

I asked who our new coach was. He said no idea mate. I asked if he knew of any potential signings. He said no idea mate. I asked if he knew anything. He said only about elite clubs. Cheeky barsteward.

I put him to the sword on the course. 4 and 3. A 2015 Bordeaux was the prize. This is now going down like silk sitting on my patio. Might be a bit rambly later!

West Ham play some brutal football mind I don’t think it’s unfair for fans to want a better manager. Granted they won the conference league but so they should have, Pacqueta probably cost more than every team they faced. When you start spending big money on players there comes an expectation for football that’s easy on the eye, this season West Ham have even less possession over the course of the season than Luton.

Not too sure mate, but I dont think you get to the final block and fail. It is a serious block then celebration. All assessment work is done prior I believe. I did one below, and that was how it went. While ago though, and to be clear they have aligned FA and UEFA since. So I might be wrong.

I know we all want this resolved quickly, but if Speakman is going, shouldn't we be employing from the top down? DOF, Head Coach, Coaches, rather than Head Coach, Coaches, DOF?

Seems a bit weird when we are making so many changes on the footballing side, that the boss isn't hired first and makes the other appointments.

Main reason I don't think Speakman is going. Or not until the season is underway, anyway.

Yep. It's concerning me that we aren't doing it that way. Unless, as I suggested before, Speakman isn't actually leaving.

A DoF coming in to work above the head coach who he didn't pick is a recipe for disaster, and there's so much precedent for that being the case. If the new head coach is the owners choice, that head coach knows he has the ear of the owner and can bypass whoever the DoF is in the hierarchy. Absolutely hate meddling owners. Sign the cheques and employ people to make decisions, don't make them yourself.
