Doesn’t look at if Scott was as the POTY dinner last night, which is odd considering he signed most of the crap players in attendance.

Typically cynical PR Comms from Methven to get Scott to announce the Thierry Small update - it makes it seem as though AS remains important to the operation, when in reality a major post mortem of our shocking season should see both Scott & Methven kicked out this week.

What I find interesting to date is the total absence of a statement from anyone at the club about precisely why last season was such a **** show.

Nathan Jones has come closest to hinting at it, but the normally mouthy Charlie Methven has been very quiet, and surely the club’s worst finish in 98 years warrants comment from Jim Rodwell, or the investors ?

Complete silence.

We all know the real reason why - Methven & Rodwell protecting their incompetent mate.

Sadly it's a sure sign that these owners and their management team are no better than Sandgaard, ESI or Duchatelet.

If these were better stewards of the Club (or genuinely want to be better) they would be more honest and more open.
They would own the mistakes they've made and commit to making changes in order to improve.
That humility would go a long way to win over the fair minded majority of our fans I think.

But instead we get the same old silence, and blaming of others for their failings.
No respect for fans. No commitment to do things differently.
I fear it will not end well for Nathan Jones.
And at this point we are more likely to go down next season than go up.

Worst of a bad bunch.
But we've had no honesty or willingness to learn from anyone in a decade and a half.

Nathan Jones seems to be closest in approach to the only man willing to tell it like it was in all that time - Lee Bowyer.
Is Jones a better manager from a tactical point of view though?
He has a lot to prove.

I don't think he'll get a chance though under this shifty regime.

But the owners have already explained this. You obviously didn’t pay attention to Charlie’s interview.

Charlie has assured us that all of this seasons problems were as a result of the previous owners mistakes and running the club down and leaving them to sort out all the problems.They have been left with many, many of them.

However you’ll be pleased and reassured to know that everything SE7 and GFP have done since they took over has improved the club, both behind the scenes and in terms of the squad.

But please, you really have to understand how running a big business works and if you can’t, then it’s best just to keep quiet and leave it to those who do. It’s a three year plan and they’ve only had control for less than a year. What do you expect ?

Once they have the funds available from 20,000+ season tickets and start to make a profit on player sales, merchandise, commercial contracts and the like, then you’ll see what they can achieve. In the meantime keep schtum and come and support Nathan and the lads.

Let’s see where we are in July 2026.

It’s important to separate the investors - who have been excellent IMO, with the 100% dud SMT.

It can only be a matter of time before the investors wise up & send Methven, Rodwell & Scott packing.

I have to say I am very impressed by the new owners. But Scott in any other industry would have received his P45. If I shook Methven's hand I would count my fingers afterwards. He is as slippery as a bagful of snot. I don't know enough of Rodwell to make a decision.

I was initially cynical about the investors, but there’s nothing not to like about them so far.

They ridded us of that egotistical prick Sandgaard, they have invested heavily in players (albeit we have made some bad signings due to AS), and they financed the capture of Nathan Jones & Paul Hart, which won’t have been cheap for a L1 club that loses £800,000 a month.

But DP, Methven is an owner NOT part of the SMT - how can you be impressed with the new owners given that ?

I'm sceptical for two reasons.

1) If these investors know what they're doing how were they conned into backing Methven?
He even has form. Look at Sunderland. Anybody doing even minimal homework would have sussed him out.
That puts their competence and/or their motives in doubt.

2) If the investors get annoyed enough with Methven and his posse, what's to stop them just walking away?
The money they've put in so far has been wasted.
Losses aren't under control and on the pitch we were worse than ever before.
Why wouldn't the investors just decide to stop injecting bad money after good?
They have no love for CAFC, no attachment to it.
In their position (if I were not a fan) that's what I would do.

Then we will really be in the s**t.

Don’t be too quick to dismiss Charlie. He owns at least 5% of the club and there are at least six others who do the same, plus no one knows how many other investors who own not more than 5%. You can do the maths.

Charlie is also the advisor to the other owners, plus he appointed his mates into key roles as the SMT.

He absolutely IS a player in all this. I would say the most important player. He pulls the strings and clearly has the ear of the richer investors and as they are, by their own admission, going to remain hands-off, Charlie is free to run the show.

If it all goes wrong, who do you really think will get the blame - Dean Holden, sorry, Michael Appleton, sorry, Nathan Jones or Andy Scott and Jim Rodwell ?

Invested heavily in players ? Please.

We offer clubs 50% of a players value for anyone good and instead pay peanuts for run of the mill L1 hackers when those clubs turn us down. Which is why we’ve ended up in our lowest league position EVER. We have NOT invested heavily and neither will we.

The owners have already said so. They are not going to throw money at this, like Ipswich did. Their intention is to reduce losses by £8/9M per year, by increasing revenue with success on the pitch (that’s going well isn’t it) and making a profit on player sales.

The owners are guilty of trusting the wrong people, that's all. What's wrong with cutting the losses anyway? Like Roland, and Sandgaard, they started withthe best intentions but made wrong appointments, but we'll soon find out more about their strategy
