Agreed mate. He was probably one of the most popular and likeable blokes in football. One of the only footballers that no one had a bad thing to say about him. Must've been something going on in the background for him to take his own life like that.

I can't believe it, shocked is an understatement, he was part of the first Newcastle team I remember. He will always be a legend to me. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

My sisters boyfriend just told me, I thought he was pulling my leg but went on Skysports News and saw it. So shocked, always though of him as a future toon manager.

He was only on football focus yesterday.

    RIP.

I just remember his incredible ability in the air. He was majestic at meeting the ball from set pieces. Genuinely gutted about this news. Along with Nobby he was my favourite toon player.

I'm devastated..top guy, top player and the best manager the Welsh national team has had since Mark Hughes..What we're going to do now is a mystery, but the people I really feel sorry for are his wife and kids. RIP big man

This. Great header of the ball, and the rock in midfield when Bobby led us to the Champions League.

I really hope NUFC sanction a minutes applause for Speedo before our next home game against the russians!

A fantastic MF who graced our pitch with style! RIP Speedo

This man was truly one of NUFC's best midfielders, a true professional and a great role model. He will be missed greatly! Thoughts go to the family. RIP Gary Speed!

Watched him on Football Focus yesterday while making myself something to eat and he seemed to be looking to the future with Wales.
He discussed their group and how much they fancied beating anyone in it.
    Really strange.

Superb player who seemed to go on forever.
    RIP.

Talking about Saylor, think that he was our Saylor of our midfield ... played with the same passion and determination ...
