I thought the ref last night was great. In that he gave us just about everything going. 50/50s, non fouls, the works. Doubtless some kind of complaint will be made.
It was noticeable in so much that it is so rare to have a Ref like that after the ‘Parade of Clowns’ we usually have officiating our matches!

Still a Marti-doubter after that?

If he can produce performances like that more regularly, absolutely not.

The thing is though, that was the first time that we've really dominated any team other than in the second half at Preston. Easily our best performance of the season and shows what these players are capable of. If Cifuentes can get then playing at that level more consistently, we'll be in the play-offs next season.

How did we lose to Sheff Weds twice?

Maybe biased but I think he gave things fairly evenly. Didn't fall for their diving/holding face early on but also gave little to Smyth or Dykes.

Looked like a ref who understands football and their role in the game. Far too many, especially on TV, want to be the centre of everything.

After criticising Willock last week I think yesterday was his best performance in years, got stuck into everything and played the ball when he could.

Overall the thing that struck me was how mature every player was, holding positions, not rushing in and offering fouls by stupid pushes in the back and when necessary making the foul in Leeds half before an attack could develop.
Even with his stupid yellow card Colback was still composed, under Ainsworths full throttle he would have been sent off in the first 20 minutes.

Begovic had his best game.

Dunne showed he can defend and track against a decent winger, aswell as offering an aerial outlet for Cook and Salter-Clark.
I think his skill level often goes unnoticed with him being typecast as just a clobber centre-back.

No poor performances, I'd give MOTM to Chair purely for his workrate. He is always looking to collect the ball, this game he went further though and was ready to turn and play forward.

The season starts here!

Agree with most of that. I thought Chair could have tracked back more to help Paal, who was badly exposed at times.
Willock was superb.
Field was MOTM for me.

Seeing a couple of the post-match El Cif interviews I thought he looked emotional and also very proud of his team and squad.

He’s talked about being humble quite a lot and I thought he genuinely exuded humble last night.

Definitely an El Cif love-in is definitely fairly due. Since he’s come in he has made differences in play, team spirit and has built confidence and ability in individuals. All the things you want, and expect, of a coach. Very well done Marti - A++ for this season. Let’s see it all again next season.
