It implies that the shoot out is a different game, which is clearly nonsense.

This is probably a TV driven idea. Shootouts will be more entertaining if keepers are allowed to play silly buggers with impunity.
Which begs the question what happens if somebody taking a penalty walks up to the keeper and pimp slaps them

I mean if you can't send the keeper off...

The "yellow cards disappear before penalty shoot-outs" nonsense.
It makes the caution of keepers during the shoot-outs utterly pointless.

Martinez did it in Villa's game against Lille and Onana did it today.
Everybody seemed initially stunned and now it's gospel, for some reason.
If they allow gamesmanship, it will happen.
They should change the rule. Penalties are still part of the game.

They've made a rod for their own back now.
All keepers will act like that ex-Arsenal pillock in shoot-outs until they fix it.

A straight red would still count, you'd have thought.
Kicking an opponent in the face is a yellow though, so that should be fine.

Barca's opener is what the rhetoric around Vicario makes it sound like we've been conceding.
Cubarsi pressures Lunin a little, it goes straight over the keeper and he leaves an open goal.

I don't think that you can give the goalline decision that Barca have been moaning about.
It's ridiculous that they don't have the technology, but it's not clear from the footage.

Barnsley have sacked their manager with one game to go, despite being in 5th:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cp9gkg71gwyo

They've been in the top six since the start of October.
They lost the play-off final v Sheff Wed last season. He inherited that team.
Their form has been patchy recently and if results go against them this weekend, they could finish outside the play-offs (unlikely). But unless there is something going on behind the scenes which makes his position untenable, it makes no sense to bring in a new manager with a maximum of 4 games to play. Surely, it’s better the devil you know. They have been among the best teams, although not at level of Portsmouth, Derby and Bolton - so he must have been doing something right.

Presumably Martinez is banned from the next game for 2 yellows though, or is a yellow during penalties utterly meaningless?

Gary O’Neil linked with the Liverpool job.

Very surprising and probably rubbish but he’s impressed me this season and tactically outdone Ange twice.

Not sure you need to be Pep to outdo Ange's tactics tbh

We have one way of playing and that results in the same downfalls every time

I reckon I could manage a team to beat an Ange team over 90minutes

Martinez is banned, but it's because he picked up 3 yellows across the 2 legs.
Onana isn't banned, as far as I know.

Vermin FC are :

1. Ensuring if Citeh or the Poool are champions,
they will do so on pts and not GD

2. saving themselves for their new "cup final" in May
(expect a similar result as tonight against Villa)
