The good news is the forecast is actually ok from now until Monday evening for Chester-Le-Street (possibly a bit more overnight rain tonight but not nearly as much as last night) so once the outfield is deemed playable it should be fine for the rest of the match.
Play called off for the day. Only consolation is that Lancs v Surrey has suffered the same fate so of the teams who are likely contenders for the title, only Essex will play today.
I have a question to discuss, and that is Jofra Archer's fitness issues. The issues being the amount of investment he puts into his personal.fitness. Many months ago, I listened to.a brilliant Podcast featuring Asafa Powell.and Noah Lyles during which the latter talked about why the performance of some athletes drops off following a successful season. Archer was very successful when he first came on the scene, but did he do enough to keep in top condition?? If he didn't, is this a contributary cause to his fitness levels?
Glam declare on 620-3 Northeast 335 no Ingram 132 no That’s quite a statement from Northeast, the highest ever first class score at Lords.
WTF! Lawrence and Steel took 9 wickets between them on a first innings pitch in April! A turner at Old Trafford it would seem.
Pretty annoying that Glamorgan loan in Crane, only to then leave him out in favour of a five man seam attack...but end up giving nearly 70 overs of part-time spin to Carlson and Ingram.
Mercifully, there hasn't been much rain this week and the forecast is decent for the next 4 days so Hants will finally get their season up and running tomorrow. Same squad named as last week so again, looks like between Prest and Wheal for the final spot in the team.
WTF!...no Kevan James commentary this year?, the Beeb making cuts again... Edit: Ah, they just put it on a different page, i'll have to try and synch it with the youtube stream.
