Saka initiates the contact but I reckon on the halfway line against a defender it’s almost always given. Still not a penalty for me and it’s a shame his first instinct is to go down when he’s got a great chance of scoring.
Fuming about our game btw. Played great second half, missed loads of chances then nick a scrappy goal and with five minutes to go looking like we could defend all night Begovic turns into a spastic for the 8763rd time this season. But I’ve a nice couple of days in the SW now.
Let's be honest, your boys have shat the bed so many times in the past few weeks it must be like waking up in a pigsty.
We've not played that badly - indeed should have won most ... but just haven't been clinical in front of goal ... squad would need considerable strengthening if we do come up ...
It wasn’t a pen Saka’s seen the keeping rushing out and thinks he’s going to make contact so he makes sure he dangles a leg out. silly really, if he tries to go around him, the keeper probs brings him down and it is a pen.
In fact. We were actually lucky not to have had a pen awarded against us when the ref blew the whistle and then Gabriel put the ball down with his hand to take a GK apparently the ref explained that it was a ‘kid mistake’ and didn’t award it. Which is baffling tbh that said, he should also have sent Kane off, so some fairly high profile mistakes from that ref last night
New prem rule announced this morning. Arsenal players can hand ball whenever they want, in the box or outside, play on.
Honestly, that could easily have been the tie right then. If that's given and the player gets a card and Bayern go to 3-1 I simply don't see you coming back from that on the night. Baffling is the right word given that the referee saw it, I'd have understood more if he'd simply said he hadn't seen it. I was watching and I didn't notice it live to be honest, it was innocuous and didn't really affect things but if I'm a ref and I see it then I think it has to be given as a penalty.
