Well thought of at Burnley for his work there.
Only player to score for 7 different clubs in the PL. Annoying but does a lot of good charitable work.
Can't see him leaving an assistant role at a parachute club though.
Only one I could think of with genuine experience with possession based play is mowbray, but he's still going to be a no 1. Not only that, he's failed from this position plenty of times even if he came in as manager.

Yes it was ok and very odd that we play terrible against the low placed teams, yet….
i think it sums our season up quite well
Able to mix it with the best but unable to find ways to break down defensive sides.
We scored 2 goals and had 5 shots on goal against one of, if not the best side in the league. We had 'only' 51% possession. Might be a coincidence, but to me it's one of few examples which suggests we can benefit by being braver and going for it more, at the potential expense of a portion of the possession. At the very least it shows that the game that bucked the trend was more entertaining.
The o/p was about bringing experience in to help Liam like Brownie did with Horton.
I don't know anyone from the previous generation who play/coach a modern possession style.
Other than perhaps Mowbray, who's an obvious non starter unless he semi-retires.
Bellers wouldn't tick the experience box.

You have to also factor in the fact that the better teams will come at us, which naturally gives us more room and opportunity to attack and break on them, whereas the poorer teams sit back and challenge us to break them down, which we rarely manage.
Even teams like Liverpool with all of their firepower can struggle to break down a stubborn defensive unit. They and other top sides sometimes struggle to score despite a multitude of chances, so it’s not surprising that we don’t score many with the few chances we create against those sort of teams.
This feels exactly our problem this season.
It seems that the only way to score against the sides that sit in is to put so much pressure on them that eventually you either create something special, they make a mistake or you get that bit of luck that the ball drops kindly for you.
I don’t mind the playing out from the back at all and I actually enjoy a lot of the one touch passing that we do but we have to find a way to move the ball forward more rapidly and try to pull them out of their defensive shape. If we haven’t already scored, there’s no need for them to come out and press us, so they’re happy to keep their shape and let us have the ball until we eventually get to their box.
Surely if we’re analysing these games as much as has been suggested, someone should be able to come up with some options to try?

With you probably only scanning the preceding thread to gain context, what have you identified that you think is inconsistent?
This is exactly the problem but lots of us were skeptical about the playing out early on because of this! It’s why this way of playing will stop you going down but will it ever take you up?
There are plenty of teams who play this style but manage to inject more pace and reap the benefits in goals scored, as well as points on the board. It is a concern that we still haven’t successfully made that leap but I’m still hoping that we can find the formula and ideally starting from today. Hopefully, the fact that we really need to win the majority of our remaining games to stand a realistic chance of a playoff spot will give us the impetus to adopt a more aggressive attacking approach that leads to more chances, more goals and better results.
