Yeah, I said that at the time. Not having a go at Edozie, but there are some double standards at play there. As I've always said, for me it's a coin toss between those two. I wanted him to bring Chaos Camel on as he was always going to occupy a few players minds.
As someone with a disabled son who has been called ******ed many times, I find you and your comment very insulting.
Will say one thing. We're as good (if not better) than anyone when we play with intensity and fast paced, one touch passing.
I think that is a bit harsh, he was trying to do things differently but wasn't getting the rub of the green, 10 minute cameos don't help, he needs a prolonged run in the side to get up to speed and show his obvious potential. IMO. As for the rub of the green this weekend was typical, I see other teams getting the breaks and getting lucky, I see us getting absolutely nothing that we haven't worked hard for, maybe that's just me and my heavy bias?
It's very telling that you've used Ipswich and Leeds as examples, but not Leicester. By all accounts, their crowd is similar to ours - and their style of football is similar to ours. That's no coincidence. The Etihad is hardly a theatre of noise too. As you say, so much of it is down to the style.
Our second goal was glorious. Back to front in seconds. Always forward, ball barely left the ground. Naturally the focus is on the assist and the finish. But even just Bednarek's pass - played in front of Stu, and at a good pace, for him to just run onto. Not overhit, not underhit, and (best of all) not behind him!
Likewise Lincoln. My language hS been poor tonight, and I regret that, truly sorry. I did not mean to be cruel to individuals. But Lord you do try our patience at times
Its pretty clear at this point in the season that Martin has deficiencies as a manager that have cost us plenty. The style has been there since the start but what has taken over is a casual tempo. We play 200 hundred passes in the horseshoe with 85% possession, they are slow and considered and mechanical - up, back, third man, up, back third man and then there's a dangerous turnover and because we have hypnotised ourselves with a set pattern and speed of play we fail to react. Bam, equaliser, Bam, winner. Early season we played faster and with more intensity, it was much harder to defend against. Possession and dominance are not winning games and will not win games. We won't win the playoff's that way unfortunately because that's not the style of play that will be required. It will only work against teams that roll over and nobody in the play offs is going to do that. Fight, scrap, press, challenge. Bit depressing really after such a great first half of the season.
I would have no issue with possession based football if we actually used it in a way that created 1 on 1s. We rarely ever have crystal clear 1on1 oppurtunities. Armstrongs goal tonight was one but overall we don’t. What annoys me are possession based teams like us who pass it round the back multiple times just to have some one who isn’t cool under pressure hoof it up the pitch to lose it. OR we will advance up the pitch only to pass it to the wing for a limpdick cross into the box into our 5’9 forwards just to lose it. We would get battered in the Prem. Absolutely blasted week after week because the one thing we haven’t strengthend since going down is our defence. It’s the same players who got relegated pretty much and some took part in 9-0s. I honestly don’t know what the future of this team looks like. I really don’t think the Prem would do us good right now with this squad unless we saw a big CB, Fullback signing. But also the Championship never gets easier. All I know is that I still need to see proof Russ has a Plan B when things start going wrong or losing steam but other than the Huddersfield turnaround we rarely see it. One speed, one pace and if we don’t play that we’re usually ****ed.
With the ball yes. I think we're pretty poor without it in comparison to the other top sides though and that's where we often come unstuck.
We need to be working on our turnovers. The number of times Ipswich gave it away without us having to do much was shockingly bad but every time we failed to capitalise on it. We just look to reset and start moving the ball around.
I got to say that of all the teams to face in the play offs Leicester will be top of my avoid list so the league table as it stands is as ugly as it gets.
It would be nice to beat them 10-0 but I don't see it happening. I see Vardy getting a brace in the last 10 minutes and me being sick in my mouth.
