Its pretty clear at this point in the season that Martin has deficiencies as a manager that have cost us plenty. The style has been there since the start but what has taken over is a casual tempo. We play 200 hundred passes in the horseshoe with 85% possession, they are slow and considered and mechanical - up, back, third man, up, back third man and then there's a dangerous turnover and because we have hypnotised ourselves with a set pattern and speed of play we fail to react. Bam, equaliser, Bam, winner. Early season we played faster and with more intensity, it was much harder to defend against. Possession and dominance are not winning games and will not win games. We won't win the playoff's that way unfortunately because that's not the style of play that will be required. It will only work against teams that roll over and nobody in the play offs is going to do that. Fight, scrap, press, challenge.
Bit depressing really after such a great first half of the season.
