Snap, my Mrs is an ex womens Pro who played for England so we have some let's say heated discussions re football haha
With you being an ex youth level goalkeeper, HT2, you could take the disagreement with her out on the pitch to a penalty shootout and see who comes out better ;
She was a CF as well so would be interesting haha and it's been the topic of many a tongue in cheek argument
Nothing to stop them getting a plain shirt and having it put on.That picture was an official one which seems a strange choice.
Was the officer not trying to explain that the context of the swastika on the banners in the protest were implying that Israel were the new 'Nazis', rather than showing a swastika in support of the Nazis.. and as there isn't a ban on the swastika in the UK, as in other countries, then the context of which it is being shown is important. It seemed like a fair enough explanation from him as the situation was nuanced and volatile.
The lady said it caused her alarm and distress. That should have been enough The Israeli flag and the union flag have been ordered to be removed because they may cause upset. The suggestion that Israel are the new Nazis is puerile. They are not trying to exterminate a whole race like the Nazis did. Far worse cases of mass slaughter involving tribe on tribe and different sects of Muslims or involving Muslims and Hindus have gone on.
Yea but we know why theres such a problem with israel And nothing about any other wars in yemen or syria etc No politics tho
There was case recently of a pub which had won pub of the year for the second time being stripped of the title because there was a swastika armband in a glass case, which was stuck in a corner. Apparently that, and some other memorabilia brought back after the war by pub goers had been there for over 50 years. It was there when the pub previously won pub of the year. Now, following one complaint there was uproar. Context, eh?
Treading carefully here, I don't know enough about the conflict to have a strong opinion either way and so don't support either stance, my point was that the officer was referring to the context in which the offending symbol was used - and he wasn't wrong.
There might have been a social media uproar and there might have been a private business making a business decision, but there wouldn't have been police investigating, if that was the genuine reason for the symbol being presented in the pub.
There was no police investigation, CAMRA just pulled the award due to a rule that it couldn’t be given to any pub displaying a symbol that could be considered offensive (it was in a garrison town and had been in there eighty years).
Today he just kept saying that the referee was being told what to do by the VAR team. He simply wouldn't let it go, must've said it ten times. It is of course Carra conpsiracy bollocks - on each occasion he was clearly talking to his linesmen.
