Pretty sure gambling disorders aren't restricted to individual sports. He could bet on other sports without doing football. It's not the sport, it's the addiction to wanting to win surely.

Honestly when i was addicted i didnt really bet on other sports that i didnt know. I foraged into sports that i didnt know as much about and i did some random ass leagues in footie but i wouldnt suddenly start on **** like tiddlywinks or the horses

My mate had it bad when we were under 18 and was betting silly money relative to what he had at the time on any old **** leagues in the middle of the night. His dad threatened to sue Paddy Power and got a big chunk back. Good times.
