How many people are saying it now, ppl outside and inside the club…will the person that matters take notice.
He had a year left on his contract so not quite seen off, he could have stayed for the season, had he stayed he would probably have gotten game time
Was a lad at Accrington a few years back similar to cooper think he moved to the Belgian leagues, Ross Sykes I think he was called always liked the look of him
Yeah he crossed my mind, but left him in for now. Not sure if he’ll make it with us for pushing on next year.
I agree with his general point about lacking experienced players, who doesn't, but imo if the players he mentioned were still at the club we'd not be much better off if at all.
Sat here trying to find a fault in that but no can do. The height comment is interesting. Sounds like that was a thing they thought needed to resolved. Wouldnt have been a target area for me at all. We miss Gooch and Pritch in my opinion. Know how and like pressure release valves on the pitch, whether winning free kicks by holding the ball, or arguing with the ref to slow the game. Dark arts.
I bet he learned a hell of a lot mate. Standards, training intensity, fundamentals, team ethic, what it takes to make it. Gooch wasnt the best player, but he was an immaculate professional.
The Newcastle game was a stark lesson in having a team full of midgets. They were bigger and stronger and dominated physically from minute one.
I loved Gooch, but his time had come to an end here. Everyone saying this and that about him, yes fantastic servant for Sunderland bleeds red and white, which is true, but let’s be honest, he was poor at the end. Look how poor he was here when he came back up here. Same as Pritchard, In my opinion of course.
Height does not equate to strength and physical domination. Much of 1v1 domination comes from mentality. Ekwah is a prime example, built like Viera but doesnt have the mentality to compete for a header in a tough situation. Hume has the physical mentality and worth more as a result. 15 years ago we stopped prioritising height in this country, would hate to go back to that.
They turned down about £15 million for him in January and his stock has grown. Very good player but he is going PL or abroad for sure.
Is he the t**t that kept on falling to the floor when we played them earlier in the season, trying to win free-kicks and penatlies? If it is him then no. Who was the Leeds CB that cannot get a game and we have been linked with him previously (I liked him).
I agree with most of that from Gooch, but the Stewart sale has turned out to be good business on our part, and it’s not like Ross was jumping to sign a new deal here.
