Mad gifs of you ya daft **** Tell us again how your film thread on GC, you know, the one where you post about films, isn't actually a film thread. Even though you say it is in the OP
Caught up on first 5 episodes of Shogun. Very good so far. I prefer limited series, so it's all done in one. Not knowing much about it, I expect I'll watch the rest of this and get fcked off as it goes into a 2nd/3rd etc season.
Furore over next James Bond ... if Jewish actor Aaron Taylor-Joy gets the gig ... apparently 'rascists' (The Sun) are threatening to boycot the film if he is given the role ... In fairness, I have never been a fan of the franchise and don't think I've actually watched one all the way through - just not my cup of tea - although from the snippets I've seen over the years, 'Bond' will always be Sean Connery ... But the world has gone mad if people are going to start boycotting films on the basis of race, creed or colour of individual actors ... although I suspect it's always gone on, to some extent ...
As Luv says, it's based on a novel, albeit a hefty one (which I read back in the day) so already has a finite end ...
I would boycott Bond if he becomes a woman or black Bond has always been white religion is irrelevant for the character imo
That's good to know. I'd happily watch if I know there is an outcome and not some cynical attempt to make more series and the plot goes to pot.
I share your underlying sentiment ... ...and yes, there are now some ridiculous casting decisions which are just plain daft and would put me off watching some films and programmes ... all inclusiveness works for genres like sci-fi, fantasy and futurist works, but just becomes silly when applied to historic material ... as some earlier (particularly 50s and 60s B movies) Western genre films comically demonstrate - when the Indigenous people characters are played by white men in badly fitting wigs!
The Daniel Craigh one's were all pretty decent. Never heard of the new one, who is he? Genuinely don't know.
Why would someone boycott if he's jewish? I'd say he needs a haircut that's about it. Funnily enough it hadn't occurred to me until last night catching Age of Ultron on the tellybox that he was in that. Regarding Bond, defo Connery for me. Not everyone likes Bond but I'd say each actor has had at least one excellent Bond film. Every one who's played the part. So imo there's plenty of good Bond films. Having said that, I think Luv mentioned this a while ago, Mission Impossible has probably become the more consistent stand-out spy franchise.
The kid out of KickAss. Also he was in Bullet Train recently with Brad Pitt. please log in to view this image
