It doesn't matter that they are out,Spurs are on a run and the momentum will give us a win or a draw. Besides we have the players to replace them.

Oh good news for West Brom.

1522 FOOTBALL: West Brom have received a treble fitness boost ahead of Saturday's home Premier League clash with Tottenham. Head coach Roy Hodgson expects four-goal leading scorer Shane Long (leg) and fellow striker Peter Odemwingie (knee) to be fit. Midfielder Paul Scharner is also winning his race to face Spurs after a three-week lay-off with a knee setback.

If Vdv and Jd are both out, I hope we play sandro and parker in a 2 man defensive midfield, with modric slightly ahead, were not at home and wba are not a bad side. If we play Pav we will lose. Simples

Yep, I was going to suggest Sandro might play, even before the injury news, but to replace Lennon.

Now, I would say Sandro in for VDV if necessary. Keep Pav away from the team.

Thanks for that Ensil. You are much more interesting and readable when you provide football opinion and stats as opposed to corrections of others etc.

How about, Charlie at right back, Walker right midfield, move Lennon into the hole, swapping with Bale (lmf) periodically, Ade lone striker. That is a front 4 with frightening pace, ALL with goals in them and it doesn't ask anything of players that they can't really do.

That's not a bad idea, although I quite like Walker running from deep and also, Lennon and Charlie worked so well because they had a great understanding, it might be a bit much to expect the same straight away from those two. That said, Lennon was good behind the striker when he played against Chelsea there under Jol about 4(?) years ago.

On the subject of right backs at right wing, did anyone see Bent talking about Hutton at right wing yesterday? He said something along the lines of "Hutton's a right back who likes to get forward but when he was on the wing he had to get back and defend, which didn't really work". Totally true but he's not helping himself, Hutton or McLeish there <laugh>

Apparently it's going to be windy today up at WBA, so harder to play good football, more need for strength I think, more need for Sandro.

Our winning run is in great danger today, especially with the bad news for us that a few of WBA's best players are winning their fitness fights and may start against us. Here's hoping Harry can make the right calls, and the players do the right things.

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread we may have to play ugly to get a result.
West brom will come at us we will probably have to play on the break.

Yep agreed, and that's why we need Sandro IMHO, regardless of who else is fit.

For me if VDV is fit drop Lennon, otherwise bring in Sandro for VDV.

You do say that for every game though, Ghoddle!

Sandro's an excellent player and I'm sure that he'll get plenty of game time over the course of the season, but I think that the current balance of the team is why we're getting so many good results.
I'd hate to see that change unnecessarily.
If someone's out, then that'll force Redknapp's hand.

Fair comment PNP, though to be fair to me, I usually add the rider I'm happy if Harry keeps the same team. And I'll add that rider this time as well :)

BREAKING TEAM NEWS: No Rafael Van der Vaart or Luka Modric (who is ill) in the Tottenham starting line-up. Sandro comes in, as does Jermain Defoe.
