Sounds like we can forget anything exciting in the summer window. No money unless we sell much like January my the sound of it.

I suspect the next 2 or 3 seasons will be much the same as this before they try to push forward again... ffp has got Newcastle by the balls it's really very simple.
Where do you see this?

Are you taking into account the various sponsorships (including Adidas) and CL money etc. that all kicks into the new accounting period from the summer?

We should have a nice kitty, especially when you factor in amortising any transfer fees.

Eddie Howe latest interview said something along the lines of 'no mass overhaul this summer as ffp makes it impossible to do so', which we all knew anyway. Happily he didn't say 'no signings without sales'.

He always plays it down in the press. He said the same before we bought Bruno, Botman, Isak, Gordon, etc.

He's been honest... ffp is real and the new rules make matters worse. Not getting back in Europe will be another issue.

Howe referenced sales and how expensive players are along with FFP being an issue for the club this summer just like in January.

Keep saying it but we need to trim the squad - and get rid of the black holes sucking up resources. Disappointed Lacselles and Krafth got new deals, can't really see the point in them staying on next season - Lacselles is 4th choice currently and we need better CB anyway, Krafth is behind Tipps and Tino and I'd have Ashby ahead of him as well at 3rd choice. Then you have Ritchie, Dummett, Karius, Gillespie, Lewis, Hayden and the rest that need to go.

It's always difficult to do a massive overhaul but we'll have money to play with next season I'd bet. In addition to that there will be a couple of contract expiring this summer or next where decent deals can be made - Ivan Toney's deal up next year, would we bring him back to replace Wilson - yes please! Players in Saudi maybe looking to jump ship as well....

One thing I would like us to do more of which other teams seem to do quite well is loan's from abroad, don't need options and obligations to buy but can be worked in if decent value. Fati at Brighton on loan from Barce as an example is a quality signing, the top, top clubs have young quality players who need game time and we could always use 1/2 of those loans to pad the squad with a bit of quality.

Nobody wants the **** players, so they'll be selling our best players and keeping the dross as usual. This is why we never get anywhere and why the dross is ever present.

What evidence do we have to back up that? ASM, Shelvey, Darlow, and Woods are the only players we've sold since the new owners came in, released Manquillo as well.

The dross need to go one way or another - loans, free transfers etc. just got to get them off the wage bill

Toney will go to Arsenal I reckon.

The fact they're still here.. it's like selling dead horses. They keep renewing their contracts though and that must be Howe.

Probably but just an example, players like Chekri, Yoro, Thuram, Mitchell, Chiesa, Dumfries, Son, Merino all out of contract next year (2025) - could we poach one or two before on a decent deal? All improve the squad, some older and more experienced some younger with potential but there's players we can be looking at that won't cost the earth who'll improve the team.

Problem is that every big club from here to Timbuktu will be aware of those players being available and unfortunately unless they all don't bother Newcastle won't get a look in.

Newcastle's probably not looking overly attractive right now anyway because it's become clear they're unable to spend enough money to compete.
