Frank Hester a businessman who has received government contracts to the value of £400 million AND given the Tory party £10 million in donations in less than a year has been revealed to have made racist comments about Dianne Abbot and black women in general BUT is being defended by a Tory peer and MPs. He also said that Dianne Abbot should be shot!!! Seriously what the actual **** has happened to the country? Can you imagine the uproar if the same comments had been made by a supporter of Labour about Kemi Badenoch? Will Hester be charged under the new extremism laws? Will he ****.
A complete absence of condemnation from the government of these remarks for what they are: racist, misogynistic, and an incitement to violence. Instead we have had weasel words that the words are “wrong” and “unacceptable”, but no explanation of why they are. Dawn Butler had similar threats made about her, and the offender was jailed. This time, the Tories will attempt to gloss over the issue, simply because the **** has given the Tory Party £10 million in return for £400 million of government contracts. Way past time this disgusting party was consigned to the dustbin. #GeneralElectionNow
To be fair, at least Kemi Badenoch has broken cover and said something more definite. It will be interesting if this topic crops up at PMQ’s tomorrow, and whether the £10 million will be returned, or donated to suitable charities.
I am almost as amused by the the Frank Hester story as I was by yesterday's headline that Kate had altered a digital photo. There are several issues in today's stories that none of the main media channels have seet fit to develop. 1. Why is everyone surprised that someone has spoken about Dianne Abbott in this fashion. No other politician ever gets this level of abuse. The fact that it is coming from a Tory should be no surprise. In fact, the only thing surprising about it is that Hester has not defected to Reform yet ! For me, the level of abuse Diane Abbott gets is a shcoking indictment of our society and fails to recognise that no other politician in the UK has received anywhere as near the number of votes as she has received. She is valued bythe community she represents as it a great parliamentarian. 2. No one seems to be asking questions as to why Hester has donated £10 million to the Tories. Regardless of political party, no individidual should be donating this kind of money. It might be innocent yet you do wonder whaty the motives are of a businessman whose track record as an employer is now coming into question. I think this is an affront to deomcracy. In my opinion, this is an even bigger concern than name-calling within a private meeting. 3. Regards to the meting within which Hester is alleged to have made these comments, this is supposed to have happened in 2019. Why haven;t the trade unions in this work place called him out sooner ? 4. Hester was previously a member of the Green Party and apprarnely donated the mney as he was impressed more by Sunak than by the COnservatives themselves. The racist comment he made in addition to being a bit politically flakey is indicative of someone with really poor judgement. Surely the Tories should be alarmed at receiving money from someone like that. 5. I find Starmer's response quite staggering. He seem indignant in this respect and feels morally slighted yet he has taken the whip away from Diane Abbott himself. For me, he has double standards - especially if you consider that DA's remarks reflected personal experience about racism albeit the manner in which she delivered them was clumsy. The other point I would like to add is that I have heard colleagues make exactly the same remark as Hester. I am not at all surprised and would point people to some of the t-shirt printing comopanies on line who nearly all offer a variant of some image or other showing DA to be uneducated. More than any other politician in my living memory, she has been castigated for reasons beyond her political opinion and affiliations. To my mind, these kinds of remarks are common currency amongst a large proportion of white people. I am not at all convinced this is a one off and, regrettably, something I feel is all too common place. No one seems to be looking at this at all closely but the whole argument is based along woke and anti-woke arguments. Political parties like Reform allow this mind of mindset to be normalised and the common sense element that recognises this as being totally unacceptable seems to have been lost within the Culture War. This kind of remark would not have been given credence in the 1990s yet the current government really seems to be lacking the moral fibre to properly address the fact that we should have have to be dealing with this kind of racism in the 21st century. The fact that it has happened and that some important people have been slow to react / might concur with the remark is deeply unsettling.
It took her quite a long time in the scheme of things given her role in government and how blatant this is And “no” - it won’t be returned. Absolutely not
I would not bet against Badenoch arguing for the money to be returned as part of a leadership bid. There are some big decisions to me made by all the political parties. I think that Hester will see his money returned and that his business will now suffer as a consequence. You have to question the intelligence of the bloke.
It’s also worth pointing out that Frank Hester is responsible for TPP SystmOne, the software used by about a third of GP practices in this country. Conspiracy theorists will no doubt enjoy the fact that this man has full access to the medical records of milions of us.
Dianne Abbott, she’s an absolute embarrassment of a politician. I see common sense has broken out and the NHS has banned puberty blockers for children. I hope now that all those that pushed these drugs onto vulnerable young people are locked up as the child abusers they are.
Does she make you hate all black women then? Because that is the abuse she got here - and that you just condoned.
Puberty blockers have been given to children for decades. A friend of mine was on them when she was 10-11...not because she was trans, but because she started puberty too early. Utterly uncontroversial. Anyway, awesome that we'll see more child suicides. Glad we turned this into a political football.
I see the Republican case against Biden is falling apart as Special Counsel Robert Hur is being torn apart for lying about the President. The best bit is he keeps saying “I can’t remember” when quizzed on the details of his report - after accusing Biden of having a bad memory. And there is transcript of him saying Biden has a photographic memory too! The Republicans are all pathetic liars.
Do you want her shot? Is it just a wind up or are you as low as those you apparently condone? Compared with Patel, Baverman,Truss, Badenoch and all the other tory harradians that stretch across generations Diane Abbott is someone to be admired for her public service.
It’s post like his last one that truly make me believe Os is just trolling the people he considers “lefties” on here. Which is nearly the entire forum compared to where he sits on most issues. It’s ridiculous. No matter how much you dislike someone you can’t say she deserves someone saying she should be shot. Or perhaps this is a big attempted “gotcha” where Os will claim that we all want Trump, Boris or Suella shot - when I don’t think anyone making those comments have been condoned on here. Or indeed that anyone prominent has made such comments I’m sure we don’t need to go back too far to find Os decrying threats of violence against politicians (or their actual killing) - either Amis or the recent one who is resigning. But saying someone deserves to be shot? No that is all fine and dandy. If it had been a Muslim saying Suella (or indeed any politician) deserved to be shot I assume the stance would be very very different.
Even by your standards, that is an appalling thing to say. Calling for a politician to be shot is truly heinous, whatever your views of them.
Short or selective memories on here. A post from Badger when Braverman got the push; San Tejón said: ↑ So presumably, because Braverman has been removed from her cabinet post she will now be “entitled” to a severance payment equal to 25% of her salary iirc. I was hoping when the sack was mentioned that it was a heavy duty canvas sack stuffed full with Braverman and some bricks, suitably sealed at the top and lobbed off the centre of Westminster bridge but alas not. Would have been cheaper as you don’t qualify for the severance pay if you leave a cabinet post as a result of dying. Bring on the next clown, Dodgy Dipstick Dave. .................................................................. But when Badger said he hoped Braverman had been lobbed off Westminster bridge, there was no outrage from the self righteous mob at all. In fact when St Joey pulled him for it the Onion came to his defence, saying Badger probably didn't mean it seriously. A figure of speech. And as strange as it may seem I agree with him. The same as Hester probably didn't mean Abbott really should be shot as I'm sure you all know, so just climb down off those high horses you've all rode in to town on. And as for Schad's reply to Os about puberty blockers, he's outdicked himself. He's an unbelievable dick and so is Jabbo for liking it.
As the simplest search shows Schad's reply was on point and you've dicked yourself unbelievable twat that you are. "The condition doesn’t have to disrupt your child’s life. Providers can treat precocious puberty—marked by breast development before age 8 or testes growth before age 9—with hormonal suppressants, also called puberty blockers. With supervision, these reversible drugs safely and effectively delay a child’s development until they’re ready." https://www.cedars-sinai.org/blog/puberty-blockers-for-precocious-puberty.html Perhaps this and other similar articles may give you a better understanding of the use and application of puberty blockers. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gender-dysphoria/in-depth/pubertal-blockers/art-20459075#:~:text=Puberty blockers can be used, effects and long-term effects.
