That's not a problem for me as they've never leaked information to people like mad Bob. In fact, it's how I perceive a professionally club should be run.
I tend to agree. Maybe they could do a little bit more on the PR side of things though. They could have said something about the bar stuff and nipped the wild rumours in the bud.
I hate the phrase but there's something to be said for "controlling the narrative." A well run club, or any large business really, would be doing so. At the moment "the narrative" is being controlled by a bunch of people with grudges to bear and that's no good. It might have destroyed Michael Beale's managerial career. Admittedly performances didn't help.
Think I've heard the phrase/ comment that it's best not reply to speculation as the conspiracist's will have a field day. I believe they stopped signage going up once they'd discovered it, but unfortunately mobile pictures had been taken.
Bob Murray may be lots of things but he's nobody's fool. He seems very pleased with KLD and trusts what he's done. As people say MadBob is entertaining but his claims that the owner has no idea what Speakman is doing behind his back while simultaneously colluding together to rob the fans and rake in fortunes is ridiculous. These continual internet slurs on the owner would probably have happened to Murray ... ... it's sad but just demonstrates how easily the craziest rumours can spread.
And if they replied to each rumour, as I said, would just add fuel to the fire. Some people would then doubt anything the club says and continue to believe their conspiracy theories.
The club are wise to say nothing most of the time, whenever they do every hyphen and comma is analysed to death until a smoking gun is 'discovered' and the conspiracy deepens. The massive furore over the photo from the Princess of Wales shows how quickly something can go viral and how easy it is to lose trust. She's now come out to say she, herself, doctored the photo as she often does. The initial error was made a hundred times worse with, what she thought, was a simple explanation. Now, when any Royal images are released, people will wonder if they've been altered as well.
I've just looked it up to find out for certain, and research has been done that offers differing conclusions on whether people believe in conspiracy theories more now. It certainly feels like people believe in them more than they used to. It seems like the general public have cottoned on to the fact that asking questions is a good thing, it's just that don't seem to want to accept mundane, but usually accurate, answers.
I think that's spot on mate. People have always preferred intrigue to a boring true answer. Is there a massive dinosaur living in a Scottish lake ... ... of course there isn't Aug 2023
Media led now, before there wasn't platforms to enable the smack heads posting their drivel. Probably could do with a few filters on here to stop the slack-jawed ***gots posting their worries.
I'm sure most of us, me included, have posted daft stuff at one time or another and it's usually harmless if misguided. But there's the odd one who seems to relentlessly and bitterly chip away at the club but never has anything good to say. I've mentioned before I was told there's junior reporters who post rumours on forums, wait for the reaction and post the responses. By the look at some of the fanzines I suspect they do the same ... ... every other 'article' is about 'what Sunderland supporters are saying'. How the f*ck do they talk to all these people
I like the model, if executed properly if can set us up for years, mistakes have been made but it’s in its infancy really, excited to see how it works with the injection of the Clarke money etc in the summer
Getting a new centre forward is going to be the hardest task of all. Hopefully we can get it sorted quickly.
Agreed mate all 24 clubs want a good one, I’d argue the holding midfielder is just as important, hoping the extra coin will help us fill both voids
Do you mean part of the model, that's working really well for us ??? , and we are in the play off places, that one.
Yeah, it's been mentioned before, the model struggles to find centre forwards, hence the abundance of attacking midfielders
I don't agree with a lot of the stuff about Beale but here is a strangely (but realistically) upbeat article from one of the fanzines https://www.a-love-supreme.com/single-post/it-s-not-all-bad
