Don’t really know what people are expecting.

We are playing away from home, against a team who spend 10s of millions on players, and we’ve got 3 or 4 starters injured, and we managed a draw with a certain Dessers starting too which is akin to playing with 8 men.

I’ve not watched it back but I didn’t feel we were severely under the cosh and we conceded a very soft pen and an OG.

A respectable result all things considered.

A Scotch team getting a score draw , no matter how it was an achieved, away in Portugal is a very creditable result .

Only issue is away goals no longer count . Still , sets it up nicely at home.

luck is a large factor of course, but the tactics just work in europe, theyre happy to not have the ball, these slow build up technical teams who give them time to get back into their structure out of possession are playing into their hands

then they feed on mistakes, set pieces, frustration, chaos from the long balls, these teams arent used to coming up against this style and they never fcking learn

it doesnt work in the champions league because youre up against elite clinical attackers most of the time and also teams who can match sevco athletically

teams like benfica cant hold on to players with the technique they desire who also have elite physicality or end product

copenhagen are another example, just a bunch of big nordic machines working hard and it gets you so far in europe against non elite teams who try to play football
