Not my opinion, fact, SL said so himself, prefers to keeping the funds in a “nest egg”. Plus anyone can see we are short of numbers this season, part of the reason both Nige and now Liam are struggling is squad depth, numerically we are lacking with our squad, injuries don’t help, but you have to factor in a certain number of injuries, all clubs have them. Look at the two benches last night, ultimately their better quality bench won them the game.

I believe and he referred a few times that players coming through the academy was key.. Imo he preferred going in that direction rather than the hyped up millions required in the transfer market…I actually respected his actions trying to use the young ones we had..and I often praised him on here for that..
To be fair saying ‘we only want new players who are an improvement on the ones we have’ is standard management spin - GJ used to say it - they all do - when fans expect star signings to arrive in the transfer window.
